Trade idea: Simmonds for Kassian

So I know it's not as exciting as the free agency craze but..

How would people feel about a simmonds for kassian swap?

Who would have to add to make it even?
Who would have to 'overpay' to make it happen?

I don't get this one. Why Kassian?

If anyone were to add/overpay it's Vancouver, Simmonds is far more polished than Kassian.

I'm in favor of just keeping Simmonds. Kid just needs to add some finish and he's a perfect mid-line winger for us.

Have you seen this kid play? He's effin HUGE! (and very skilled too). Think 6'4" Scott Hartnell down the road. (but always angry)

Also he scored two goals against us in two GP so at that rate...

He's a great passer--loves the cycle game
HELL in front of the net
likes to hit and fight. I'd bet he could actually knock Chara on his ass in a year or two

enjoy:

(his goofy smile reminds me of hartnell..)

here's one of the goals he scored on us (dont blame bryz)

Yeah we'll keep the 30 goal simmonds over this guy. His 10 points were huge! last year.

Kassian is new Lucic??

Im very interested to bring Kassian to Philly. He is very Flyer look a like guy.

So from Philly i can do little overpayment for him, something around Read. 25 goals cheap goals to Nucks, to Philly big new Hartsy prospect with physicality and goalscorer talent.

So To Nucks:
Read
2nd rounder 2013

To Philly:
Zach Kassian

if that goes in, i will be happy to bring Zach "brother" Matt Kassian to Philly
Shelley+4nd rounder?

cause we love brother stories...

Just image our bottom six:

Kassian-Couts-Simmonds
Kassian-Talbot-Sestosito
Rinaldo.

That would hurt.

Read and a 2nd makes even less sense for the Flyers.

Why do we wan't to bring another high penalty guy to Philly? Rinaldo couldn't get a shift in the playoffs for the same reason. It doesn't work in Philly. Even hard clean hits get you a penalty when in Orange and Black

No thanks. I'd rather have the good team first guy who can already scrap. Oh yeah, did i mention he scored 28 goals?

I doubt Read gets you Kassian. More like Voracek. Even then I think the Nucks went after Kassian because they wanted a big nasty forward.

Kassian has huge upside. I am actually doubtful that Vancouver would bite on this offer. It's not really a necessary move for either team anyway. After a certain point the FO has to settle on a group of core players and let them grow together. But Kassian is a very intriguing player.

I like Kassian, but this trade would be pointless.

Big power forwards are a risk because most don't even reach that potential.

Kassian has a higher ceiling but Simmonds is the better player by in large right now. Neither team does this deal. Flyers immediately get worse next year an Vancouver can't justify trading kassian after acquiring him for a very promising Hodgson. Then again, Vancouver may have traded Hodgson for Simmonds considering they did so for kassian, though kassian is quite a bit larger.

I'll keep Simmonds. Kassian reminds me of Steve Downie. Has all the tools. But I suspect there's something loose in his head.

That " something loose in the head" aspect is what raises Downie and kassians value, they are coveted by teams for that reason.

I'd rather just keep Simmonds, especially after the regular season he had last year. But Vancouver would have to add more I'd imagine.

I haven't seen enough from Kassian to believe he'll ever fulfill that offensive potential. I'd rather just keep Simmonds.
