2012 NHL Draft Thread II (CBJ to pick #2)

In the latest edition of THN, K. Camlbell completely debunks the whole "Columbus should not draft a Russian" mentality. I don't think that you can find the article yet on-line, since they do want to sell magazines, but it should be out there later on, so if I think of it then, I will link to it.

If you have access to this issue, it is on the last page, and is a good read.

Good. That's a theory that NEEDS debunking. Nikitin and Tyutin do just fine on this club.

Seriously. We should stay away from someone who's being compared to Pavel Bure because Zherdev and Filatov didn't pan out? Very shortsighted.

If we somehow end up with that first pick and DON'T take Nail, we should be mocked openly by the media.

We've had quite a few Canadians who haven't panned out either. Maybe we should stay away from them too.

Exactly. It's like people think all players from an entire country are the same. And Russia is a big freaking country.

Today is spring cleanup for me ... first nice day in Spokane that I've had to prep my lawn for the year, and thus ...

I will do it pantsless - you know, for good luck ... no other reason...
not really

I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Montreal win the pick. That's really all I have to say about that.

I'll be upset if we lose. I'll be downright pissed if Edmonton wins. Seriously. Utica will burn.

CBJ will get the 1st pick. I'm not going to feed the pessimism. Granted we have no control but the odds favor us over any other team (unfortunately they favor the field more than they favor us).

I honestly don't think the pick is the make or break issue here, it's what gets done with Nash. CBJ keeps the pick, takes Yakupov and moves Nash for a big return.

That's right....I said it!

So when the Jackets DO get the first pick tonight what will be the new narrative around here? My guess is that from now until the draft it will be how Howson is going to screw up the pick and draft the wrong player. And then when Howson does pick Yakupov it will be how Howson is screwing up his development. And finally once Yakupov becomes a legit NHLer the KHL rumors start.

I agree. The handling of the Nash situation is going to define the future direction of this team, more than any other event in this offseason IMO.

I think it'll be more about a Nash trade and the possible returns and how either we're going to be ripped off and it'll suck, or it won't actually happen and THAT will suck.

One way or another, All Will Suck.

Thanks, Howson, for cleaning up MacLean's toxic waste. Welcome, Kekalainen; let's get good things built!

The key is as long as the perspective or your narrative never changes, you will always be right at some point. No matter what one's perspective or narrative.

I know this from reading EVERY OTHER THREAD ON THIS FORUM.

Actually read on the Isle and Oil forums posters saying CBJ deserves to win the draft lottery.

Toronto or Edmonton will get it. I mean, we already got the All-Star Game for next season, what more can we expect from Bettman? No way we get two things to go our way in one season.

All breaks for the year have already happened. The first was when that snarling barbarian James Wisniewski wasn't given a lifetime suspension and death sentence for his savage attack on defenseless damsel Cal Clutterbuck.
