That is a very good point but others are expecting the worse after what Torres got hit with. Kiesla won;t get 25 games but he may get enough that could put our ability to get deeper into the playoffs in jepardy.

I think most are mad for that fact there is even a hearing, when so many other plays go 5x folds over this and the nhl does not even look at it.

Welcome to the slow wheel of justice of the NHL. Take a reasonable expectation on length of time required to make a decision and multiply it by 3 then announce at some ungodly hour in the evening.

Such a frigging joke. Astounding inconsistency, preferential treatment for star players, media-fueled "statement" suspensions--Shanny has run the gamut over the last month. It reminds me of why we were all relieved to be rid of Colin Campbell.

Shanny's been brutal, but at this point, I think he's just doing what he's been told to do. I'd like to think that he started out with the best of intentions, but that only lasts so long when the commissioner--and by extension the board of governors--to say nothing of the league's media partners--is giving you "input" on what kind of "direction" they'd like for you to pursue with "your" decisions.

Pho had it right. You can fire Shanny and replace him with whomever you like, but it will make no difference barring wholesale regime change.

Until Shanahan nuts up against the superstars who deserve long suspensions, he will always be the target of criticism.

I think its too much, but I feel relieved given the idiocy of the NHL.

Still, even though i think one game for Klesla is too much, I still think thus hit was worse than the Torres hit, which I believe to be completely legal. Klesla's hit was obviously against the rules. Torres didn't even commit a penalty.

Yet Hayes didn't even get a hearing. Thanks Shanny, you inconsistent moron.

The worst part is Schlemko likely gets the nod to take his place... my optimism for game 5 just lowered dramatically.

I'd love for Stone to play, but so far Tippett keeps going with Schlemko when one of our regulars is out. That makes zero sense to me, since Tippett trusted Summers and Stone towards the end of the season over Schlemko, but when the playoffs come around Schlemko is suddenly the go-to guy?

Schlemko had just come back from injury and wasn't at 100% just yet. Had he not gotten hurt, I don't think Summers or Stone would have been played over him.

The four playoff games Schlemko got under his belt last year probably helps, too.

I'd rather have Stone in, especially if Schlemko is still not 100 percent yet. Get a bigger body out there who can contain the Nashville Night Owls who will most likely be back in the line-up.

Stone may not have the playoff experience that Schlemko has, but I think he is mature enough to not get swept up in the energy and emotion of an elimination game.

He doesn't appear to be back to 100% though. Maybe I'm not correctly remembering how well he was playing before his injury, but he doesn't seem to be near where he was.

I think Stone or Summers have earned a game, but I'm also not being paid to coach an NHL team...

Weird--I had almost the opposite reaction; it seemed to me like a suspension for Torres was understandable, while Klesla's infraction looked like the kind of thing that happens dozens of times every year, with no consequences beyond a (deserved) boarding minor. The Torres suspension I get, the Klesla suspension not so much.

To be clear, I don't believe either the Torres hit or Klesla's penalty were suspension-worthy.

Something else that's been bugging me. Between Torres and Klesla, that's twice with just the Coyotes that the league totally disregarded the judgement of the on-ice officials. The NHL has sent the message that the referees did not know what they were doing when they decided not to eject either player. Note that I'm not arguing that the officials should be the final word on player discipline, but that the on-ice rulings should carry more weight. If nothing else, it might make these suspensions/non-suspensions feel slightly less arbitrary.

Saw the Avengers movie today.

I wonder how many games Shanahan would want to give the Hulk for the hit he put on Loki... assuming the Hulk was a Coyote, I'm guessing lifetime ban, cuz I think Shanahan is a Loki fan...

Shanahan's Video Ruling. He quotes what a "Boarding Penalty" is from the rulebook. No ****, he got a boarding penalty. Maybe I was a bit too angry to pay more attention, but I didn't even hear why he actually got the suspension on top of the already called boarding penalty??????
