Can't wait! Hope everyone will be fit, our top two lines look pretty great but Finland will test our defense for sure.

Yep. Team Finland may have a shot to keep numbers decent if they can shut down the big lines of the Swedes. Unfortunately, Finland has no real shutdown lines.

Another glaring weakness is the 2nd line which is no scoring line either. It's downright bad combo of players with no mutual chemistry. They looked really sluggish in the game against Norway; yet the individuals are not that bad but that line just doesn't click.

What can you do?! Not much with the pieces available. Not much but hope.

If they wanna give Högberg a chance to be the starter he should play this game. And imo, he earned that opportunity with his shutout against Canada. Dansk has been steady without shining.

Figured Finland would beat Norway by more, they probably should have scored more but the Norway goalie played well. Sweden having a million players with the flu will make this more competitive.

3-1 Sweden

No disrespect against Finland, but anything but a win here is a massive disappointment for me. Then again, I think losing against any team except Canada is a disappointment. Or defence didn't look great the last game but our offence is superb and with Sandberg back our PK should improve.

You don't have to be much of a fortuneteller to say this will go for the Swedes.

Only interesting question is how long can the Finns keep the game even. With decent Dmen and a good goalie they might be able to hang on for the first period.

This should have been the new years matchup. I expect a shootout, courtesy of the swedish defencemen.

Apparently, according to the physio in Sweden, 10-15 players are sick/have colds - some of them having fevers. This could get ugly.

Well, now this is getting interesting. Finland might even win this.

Expecting close game, last year Finnish goaltending was too bad even for u20 level. Now we at least have a elite duo, and without any disrespect to Swedish goalies, they would take either of Saros/Husso for starter.

I thought they always made as many rivalries the New Years games as possible.

The other pool has it right, but the home team doesn't

it's usually the top 2 teams in the division based on last years result, which is usually the 4 teams Canada/USA/Sweden/Russia, somtimes Finland sneaks in there, they can change it up if they like but they usually don't.

Even the year after the Swiss made the semis the group has Finland/USA/Switzerland and the top 2 teams in that group from the year before(Swiss, USA) was the NYE game while Finland got Slovakia

It was obvious we weren't pushing all pedals after it was 2/3 - 0 against Norway. There is a well rested Team Sweden waiting after 24h so it would've been madness to keep it up after a few goals.

Anyway, I'm expecting Mäenalanen to keep up his good form. He was a real revelation when he played a few games with Kärpät in SM-liiga earlier this season and I was disappointed to see him loaned tier below.

Ristolainen and Pokka have to be much sharper against the Swedes. And I'm waiting much more from Honka.

This one can turn ugly. I predict 6-1 victory to Sweden.
