Effort Level?

Hey Guys

Sure we have a very young team and a lot of injuries. But i canīt understand the way of playing against the devils. Sometimes it seems like a game against Columbus after we are leading 4:0. No physical play, no corner work, no forechecking.

Sure all want to say but all our guys are injured...

Look on the other teams, look on their effort lvl!!

We need this team to play hard and up their effort or we will loose every game against the devils!!

Itīs ok to loose against the devils, but itīs not ok to loose without effort!! We have fewer games, fewer minutes and younger legs. Also we have had more days of training and rehab...!!

Flyers should start playing like Flyers playing!!

I donīt see it after the pens series!

I honestly think all this pressure they are putting on the offence is draining them out. Especially since our D has been lacking and been ****, and screwed over by injuries our forwards have to put in more effort to score more to make up for it. We have an offensive team but constantly having to put up this kind of effort is exhausting, and the result of that is exactly what we are seeing now.

Just what I think.

They sure did. They did all year though.

I remember the Pens game in Feburary that was supposedly Bryz' fault. The game was tied 3-3 after two periods then the Pens came out and outshot the Flyers 14-2 in the first 10 minutes of the third.

This is unacceptable and there needs to be accountability for those who are responsible for getting effort from the players.

The hype after the Pens series definitely affected them, in my opinion. People were basically saying they would walk through the series, and the effort hasn't been there for large periods thoughout the series. The Flyers are so good when they're faced with adversity, that losing this series at the moment could be a good thing. I'm still confident of them winning this series

Its not about effort or the personnel, its about matchups. The devils and Penguins could not be any more different in their approach to the game. The Devils are a team that won't beat themselves, and play very good situational hockey. They are the type of team that if you win against them you will feel exhausted afterward.

They are a very good team and only the false sense of superiority by posters on this board ever gave the impression that this would be an easy series for us.

Sure looks like a lack of effort from where I'm sitting. Lavy KNOWS the Devils play a different system, and I would hope prepared the guys for it. The differing style of play can't explain the lack of fire, hitting, working along boards, corners etc. Just mho

Sometimes just "effort" will not get you where you need to be (see attached)

They need to work smarter not harder (including coaches).

I think the effort is there, they're just getting outplayed right now.

yup, its gotta be draining to know that you need to pot at least 5 goals a night to have a chance to win..

it sucks but its the truth.

But they have to put up five goals because they suck at defense.

I haven't seen the flyers win a puck battle along the boards in two games.

I'm thinking that the winner of this game takes the series. If we have momentum going back to Philly for 2 out of 3, I think we'll come out on top, even if it's in 7.

If we're going back to Philly down 3 games to 1 after 3 straight wins by the Devils, it's over. They need to put it all out there today.

I think they would benefit from a little rough stuff today too...

No professional sports franchise has ever put more effort into a postseason than the 2012 Philadelphia Flyers put into Round One of the 2012 National Hockey League Playoffs.

Well, Coach's Corner was entertaining and brought up a good point on effort needed to win games, but I don't think it's just the effort here. Some of the Devils' players are just damn good in 1-on-1 battles.

The lack of effort is the only reason I can think for this happening... I mean this didn't happen to us against the devils in the regular season, it was pretty even.

Pretty pathetic way to exit the series if it continues.

So why do you think it's impossible they're just playing better now? I mean, it didn't happen to the Blues either in the regular season that they'd lose every single game against the Kings.

Never said it was impossible.. I mean we are seeing proof of that now. Devils are playing the boards well (which is destroying our system).

it's not effort. the defense (aside from Timonen and Coburn) is atrocious. plus the forwards are weak and can't seem to handle teams that forecheck well.
