Anybody who thinks Bouwmeester is not worth his contract on the Wings is kidding themselves. He had to play near 30 minutes a game on the shallowest team in the NHL. Calgary, as a team, has been in a horrible funk lately. I think JBo would flourish here. He'd be around enough skilled players and defensively sound players that he wouldn't have to try too hard to make every play.

He is a defenseman who makes a very good first pass out of the zone, and on a team like Detroit where everything is built up so methodically from the breakout to the forecheck, he would thrive.

^Do you actually watch Bouwmeester play? With that opinion I doubt it. The guy gets lost in his own zone and that wouldn't get any better here. Team accounts for a good portion but not every aspect of defending. He'd come here and piss a lot of people off. Every time I see him I'm glad he doesn't play here.

I thought JBo was supposed to flourish in Calgary. Him trying hard is a part of his problem.

Standard clip to JBo is good and look at his potential. When will him and Brent Burns ever be judged for what they actually are, we have been waiting on the potential of both these guys for close to a decade.

You realize his cap hit is $6.68M right? Bouwmeester isn't worth that on any team, other than bottom feeders trying to reach the cap floor maybe.
