He is not a scout,he knows alot of people on the club and works directly for the NHL. If he is wrong i would be surprised.I only hope more people speak up about keeping the pick, and put pressure to management not to do something stupid, short of a massive overpayment.

From an Oilers' POV, it would take NYI 1st and Hamonic for me to be interested. Just look at the history of 1st overall to a few spots lower... usually a big difference.

He's not WAY better. The gap between Hall and tavares, is not like yakupov and the rest.

I hate the guy, look at what he has done the HF. Islanders fans and Oil fans are usually peaceful when it comes to eachother

So according to Eklund, the Isles are getting a defenseman from the Blues for the Oilers trade.A top one.

You think theisle are offering 4th overall+Harmonic+a top defenseman?

Yeah,I really see that one happening.

Look at the Oilers history, you will not find any Russian sucess stories, you will find very little Russian history at all. With this kind of logic the Oilers may be making one of the biggest mistakes in franchise history, all because of nationality. I think Yakapov is the answer to the Oilers secondary scoring needs.Unless a massive overpayment is coming our way i think as a Oilers fan we are making a monumental mistake in trading the 1ST overall.
Problem with this is the Stu hasn't given his recommendation to Tambo or Lowe yet, also most Edmonton Oiler fans know that getting information out of the Oiler organization is like getting blood out of a stone. Stu does the scouting and Tambo and Lowe will make the decision, they don't tell Stu how to do his job with his track record. If Stu recommends Yakupov they'll take him and being Russian will have nothing to do with the decision.

What track record? Besides his 1st overall picks, he doesn't have a lot to show yet. I like the picks he's made, but it'll take a few years to determine his true value as a head scout.

I'd like Ebele for 4th overall.

That's not happening, any more then your wishful Harmonic+ 4th overall for 1st overall wish.

I guess he just got lucky with Marincin and Gernat, scouting these 2 I think he's made his mark.

If you think both of those trades have the same value and likelihood of occuring...

Until they make an impact at the NHL level, I will reserve my judgement. I like the job he's done so far, but I need to see some more successes during his scouting tenure.

For a player that is now considered by HF to be overrated/bust/the worst 1st overall pick in forever, there sure is a large number of proposals to pry him out of the Oilers grasp. Strange considering all the red flags against him and what a bust he is likely to turn into after bolting to the KHL.

Stu has Yakapov as #1 by a landslide. The Oilers are shopping this pick like it or not,and not just listening to offers.

See this is where I know your lying. If stu had him in a landslide, then why did he publicly announce that the gap isn't as big as some people may think?

I dont know how any rumor could be leaked like this especially with the latest concussion to Yakupov. Who knows if he really recovered from that? Lets see what happens in the combine before we make any proposals. I say keep the 4th pick but the Isles do need some star power or some kind of splash to get the fans excited. We are due for a SPLASH.

How do you know this when even Tambo doesn't even know it, or did your little birdie tell you. Personally I would like them to draft Alex Galchenyuk, so it doesn't bother me if they trade down.

I know he did, but he also mention his source was a friends of Stu, and how would his source know this when even Tambo doesn't know. Stu would also be doing a poor job if he didn't make his decision until after the NHL Entry Draft combine.

Not even a scout. It was his friend.

Isles trading the 4th and Hamonic for the 1st seems like a pipedream to me, considering that they aren't exactly in much better shape than Edmonton is to overpay for a deal like that. It isn't common for a team to offer up it's 1st overall looking for a homerun offer but they rarely get traded because at the end of the day the 29 other teams aren't interested enough in the first overall to pay that price.

Edmonton will probably just use the pick, but if management decides that they have enough future star forwards and it makes more sense to target Murray or a center then they'll have to accept a more reasonable return, or at the very least in the case of the proposed Isles 4th+Hamonic trade offer something else back in return like Sam Gagner.
