Might actually watch this one. I'm assuming win or lose both of the heavies are moving to the UFC after correct?
Certainly the winner will stick around and wear the belt for at least one defense, no?
MMA junkie says Marquardt / Woodley isn't signed yet ... once it is, that takes this from an OK card to a really good one. I still don't totally believe the hype on Gilbert Melendez ... I wish he'd drop the belt, go to the UFC and go on a run involving Maynard / Edgar / etc.
That's too bad, I really wanted to see someone beat boring Woodley. The other 3 fights are all good & it's free, I will definitely still check it out.
It seems like an eternity since either Kyle or Feijao have had a fight. I would assume the winner fights Gegard for the vacant belt, the belt situation in SF is such a joke.

Don't think so. Strikeforce's site went back up today and there are two, and only two, heavies listed on the site. The UFC already brought over the other fighters in the division. Now there's only two left so I'm assuming the winner will come in and face someone high up in the UFC division as their first fight wit the big company.

What belt? Isn't this just to determine the winner of the HW GP?

Sounds lime Thompson/Gil is in danger as Thompson once again has come up lame in training. That *******'n guy needs to get his training under control, David Terrell'itis.
Calling on Uncle Dana to save the day with a UFC replacement.

I don't know where I was last summer, but I must have missed the bolded part of this wikipedia update:
"The title was vacated on July 29, 2011 when Overeem was released from the organization and disbanded soon after." My bad. The unstable nature of this whole GP is summed up nicely in the fact that the division has effectively gone away while it's still going on ...

Heavyweight Grand Prix Final bout: Josh Barnett vs. Daniel Cormier - I just think Cormier is hungrier and wants it more. I assume he's been training hard and is committed to being one of the top HW's in the world. I don't know where Barnett's motivation level is at this stage of his career. Cormier via TKO, Rd. 2. (Although if Barnett subbed him early it wouldn't surprise me either)
Lightweight Championship bout: Gilbert Melendez vs. Josh Thomson - No-brainer pick here, although I think Melendez gets the finish this time. I like him by TKO in the 2nd or 3rd.
Light Heavyweight bout: Rafael Cavalcante vs. Mike Kyle - Tough fight for me to call.
