Well I did predict a game 4 win, a game 5 loss and two straight wins to finish it off. I'm sure the hockey gods are giving me the finger right now...

Well, you have to bench someone to piss off the fans and Halpern seems perfect for that.

Sorry to make light of all this but man, that was brutal.

For some reason am not that angry at first I was you know we let go an opportunity but at the same time if the capitals win game 6 and win game 7... You know only Champions come trough that kind of adversity.

Lets have hope and see what this Caps are really made of against the ropes.

Again it reminds me of the Gaborik gaff from the last playoffs where we carried the momentum to a game 5 win.

I think we're done.

What a bunch of BS. You do not know there is no round 2 without him. If he didn't suck so bad maybe we don't need to be in OT of game 7. Or maybe someone else is in that spot rebounding Knuble's shot. Ward is a goat, one of the worst pickups we have had that I can remember. I hope he doesn't see the light of day if we move on from this round.

And all you Hunter kiss arses, he is every bit as bad as BB. Where he may be better with in game adjustments he is dumber with personnel decisions and trying to protect a lead. I was shocked he completely gave up the puck when there were opportunities to hold the puck in and waste valuable time. All the good he has done I'm fostering toughness he blows with stupidity.

Then Knuble needs to 2 hand Aucoin a la Bobby Clarke and friggin quick !

When your margin of error is a skate blade it cuts both ways...should've been obvious for a while

Did we hunker down shell turtle in the 3rd?

I almost presumed that coaching had made adjustments to what the rags did game in and game out, being very aggressive with their dmen. I was impressed with our adjustments, or what I thought were adjustments.

we had a lot of odd mans we didn't finish hell didn't get shots off. But hats off to the rags too, they blocked passes or stopped the shots. We didnt miss the net like we often do.

It amazes me how the years fly on by and this organization just continues to choke it away when it really counts. Coaches, players, arenas and jerseys change, but the outcome never does. It wouldn't surprise me one bit to see the Caps win game six and then just get vaporized in game 7.

I'd agree. After the go ahead goal they didn't turtle, as a matter of fact they probably had the better scoring chances. Didn't capitalize and had a collapse late, with the help of stupidity.

Rookie goalie in net too guys. I'm not making excuses but the way he tried to cover that tying goal in OT looked awkward.

Not making excuses.

We can win game 6.

And they were getting their ***** kicked all over the ice in the first period too. Someone remind these clowns that "sound defensive hockey" does not mean sit back and let NY pound shot after uncontested shot for twenty minutes.

Next time show up to play when the game starts. Especially in a critical Game 5 where 80% of the winners end up taking the series. If it weren't for Holtby's heroics this game is over in the first and it never gets to Ward's stupidity.

I don't see why you guys are blaming Hunter. I agree that your team does get too much into a defensive shell, but if Ward doesn't take that penalty you guys have a much, MUCH better chance of winning the game. The 6 on 4 was too much. That's just a really really undisciplined penalty by Ward, goes against 'Hunter Hockey' as you guys would say.

I agree that this loss just feels like it's damning. I guess we'll see, but I have a bad feeling about this. They were so close tonight.

Staal's OT winner for #NYR went in off Brooks Laich.

I did see Ovi out blocking shots with maybe 3 minutes left. Not the normal full on turtle, thats for sure. IIRC, in the full turt he wouldn't see the ice that late.

We had a decent road game. Predictable weathering the shooting gallery in the first, potted two on the cold goalie, and got a lot of odd mans, but just couldnt close it out.

With our razor thin margins, dale's style, there is little room for an errors.

One error is our dmen serving up creme puffs and coffee in the crease. watch those last 2 goals, hell the whole series, we are not knocking guys on their arses. Not even trying, caps laying all over the ice instead. Its Erskine or bust.

If Hunter dresses one of the best faceoff guys in the league, who also happens to be a gritty and excellent defensive player, over a career finesse AHLer, the Caps might be able to win one of the last 15 faceoffs and bleed an extra 6 seconds off the clock.

It would be more glaring against competent (or more relentless) offenses.

They wouldn't have closed it out at home anyway so might as well make Game 6 an actual desperation game.

Viva the coin flip.

They're all trying to clog lanes and front players instead. See Alzner on the GTG.

You are very lucky. i've been watching since '85, otoh, I'm numb to this crap by now, i just have a sense of absolute certainty year in and year out that they will rip my heart out, tie it to a rope, and attach it to a semi, and have the semi drive it down highway 5 after a freak snowstorm in which they had to salt the highway. I just have zero faith whatsoever, which is why I wanted the draft pick and us to miss the playoffs. Instead, they just found a new way to break my heart. Innovators they are.
