I'm pretty sure they won the cup in Detroit.

edit: mistaken, I thought he was referring to when Pitt won the cup. Anyways, I"m hoping some kind of good news from this supposed "press conference".

@LisaHalverstadt: It's official: #Coyotes release says #NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman will address the media at 6 p.m.

Anyone have any idea if this will be televised? I plan on being down at Westgate by then, so hoping one of the bars has it on with volume jacked up!

No word yet on media coverage, I assume it will be on Foxsportsarizona.com and 1060 am said they would carry it live....

EDIT, Lisa Halverstadt said it will be in the main Coyotes interview room in the stadium.

EDIT: Craig Morgan confirmed that the presser will be on foxsportsarizona.com

EDIT: Lisa tweeted out that the presser will be on the NHL network.

Blues sell for $130m

Coyotes for $170m

what am I missing? The Blues should be worth more than us?

I am hearing a rumor that while a lease might be for 20 years, the actual commitment to the area will only be for 5 years (thus the team is worth more if you could sell it to anyone/anywhere). But I guess we will find out soon enough.

Yes, I was there and, yes, we booed...I'm sure it had nothing at all to do with the bolded, though...nothing at all...

Riiight...

Anyway, hope the announcement tonight is a good one...I've only been to one Coyotes game (too far of drive from Mesa), but I hope you guys stay AND win the Cup this year--the meltdown of the pro-Canada crowd on here would be glorious to read

So the boos just randomly started as soon as Bettman appeared? And stopped when he left? The boos seemed targeted at Bettman, not at the fact the Pens lost or even directed at the Red Wings.

I'm not even criticizing Pens fans for booing, just pointing out they aren't a fanbase that wouldn't boo him.

I don't see the point in booing Bettman. He may be an evil, dwarfish vampire count lawyer, but he's a good one and a good commissioner. I mean, you can argue his motivation or methods all you want, but if the Coyotes end up staying with an owner can you really boo the guy?

He is bringing in record TV deals, record attendance, record revenue etc... and people want to boo him?

Meh.

My thoughts exactly. It's mostly fans from Canada/North USA who are pissed because the South "Doesn't deserve hockey"

Pulling for you guys that this deal gets done, I'll be glued to the TV during this presser.

What with Onrait and O'toole constantly chirping Phoenix during their highlights, I would be absolutely elated to see them get a deal done and finally shut their mouths.

Does anyone know if there is any way to follow the press conference from outside the US?

I heard it will be on NHL.com so is that possible outside the US, or is it blocked? Foxsportsarizona.com is another site that might not be blocked.

I'll be in the arena when this press conference is going on. What would be the best way for me to listen to/watch it? Sneak into the media room?

FYI, phoenixcoyotes.com will stream NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman's Press Conference from jobing.com Arena live at 6pm AZ time
For those at the stadium, I say download either the IHeartRadio app or TuneInRadio app and listen to the presser on 910 Xtra Sports or 1060 The Fan AM.

If they're smart, it will be on every bar TV and the big screens outside the arena.

Play the "foreigner" card. With an exaggerated accent, tell them you're covering the playoffs for the Daily Kiwi, but there was some confusion with the press credentials and you understand they won't let you into the press box for the game but it would be heaps nice of them (I'm told you people say "heaps" a lot) if you could just sit in on the press conference.

Work in a joke about how the toilets flush backwards here. They'll love it.

Just want to say that if this all goes through, which I hope it does, a big congratulations to you all. You've taken your fair bit of stick over the years and it's about time you were rewarded with success not only on the ice but off it as well.

I'm rooting for you in the play-offs as well.
