If the Jays are near a playoff spot near the deadline I wonder if Jake Peavy would be a good target.

Hes pitching really well again and I assume Chicago will prolly be sellers and Kenny Williams seems to like our prospects (Stewart, Molina, Jaye).

He hasn't pitched 200 innings since 2006. I guarantee that he slows down as he gets deep into the season. If he gets to 150 this year I'll be surprised (pleasantly-as I have him on my fantasy team)

  • Morrow was really good striking out 10 guys through 6
  • Lind didn't look useless hitting at the bottom of the order
  • Bautista continued to suck
  • Perez was awful in releif of Morrow, but Jansen looked solid closing out the game
  • EE ended his struggles hitting another HR, a no doubter blast

Carreno and Crawford may be considered ahead of him on the depth chart, but I'd just like to point out Royta Igarashi's numbers again.

16 IP, 0.50 WHIP (7H 1 BB), 0 HR, 22 K, 1.13 ERA, 0.64 FIP

These are Las Vegas PCL numbers btw.

He put up similarly dominant numbers over 31 IP in AAA last year and put up an ERA of 4.66 and FIP of 4.01 with the Mets, so perhaps similar numbers could be expected of him in MLB.

Anyway, he's probably resigned to 8th reliever duties if anything (Cordero's struggles could change things a bit), but just thought I'd reiterate his work in AAA.

Seems to have been anointed Las Vegas' closer, though it's not as if the guy he's replaced was struggling (Chad Beck, 1.23 ERA, 4.22 FIP)

Just saw this. EE at 1st and Vladdy at DH? I'd honestly love this. Even if EE is average/sub par on defence.

They said they signed him to a minor league deal. Probably to see if he has any juice left.

This was my first thought. Farrel moving Lind to 8th in the order really sent up some red flags...Who knows. I don't know if another right handed bat is what we need.

Vladdy can still hit for a high average though. Interesting signing.

Wow, I thought AA would be the last guy to go after someone like Vlad.

Should be interesting to say the least.

If we were going after a pure DH I would have preferred to have a guy like Damon who's more versatile despite his age. But again, this looks like it's in the experimental stage right now.

It would most likely be Vladdy against lefties and Lind against righties.

This is all assuming Vlad does well in extended spring training.

There's no real risk to this. If he's serviceable and helps the team, yay. If not...we're still the same team we were before and consider other options. No biggy.

Love Vladdy, but at this point he's not going to be an everyday bat, at most he'll take Lind's ABs against lefties and be a bench option the rest of the time. Probably looking at Fransisco's spot since he's pretty redundant on our roster.

He signed with Oakland and will be back in a few weeks once they've played their 50th game

You seriously think a starter is going to go when Ben Francisco never plays? LOL, I think it's fairly obvious Bens days are numbered, not Thames.

To me it feels like the process to move along from Adam Lind as the starter at first is underway.

With Davis on the roster it doesn't make a lot of sense to have Francisco sitting there. Might as well use that roster spot with a guy with some power potential off the bench, who can also take over at DH when a left hander is pitching.

Why? AA is all about asset management. And this move at this juncture carries the best possible price in terms of assets: nothing.
