It's not a bad move, just figured AA was committed to giving younger players atbats rather than an age-less wonder.

I know Vlad is hardly a big-ticket name (for borderline baseball fans), but this could be a marketing goldmine for the team if he makes it as far as the Jays. Would bring out alot of Expo fans.

Looking at the box scores, looks like the Os had back to back to back HRs against Texas.

Already way past their primes but it's cool to see Omar Vizquel on this team and hopefully soon to be Vlade Guerrero who were my fave players years back in terms of positions. I know neither are going to be game breakers but it would still be cool to see them both in Jays Jerseys.

I'm surprised Vlade hit .290 last year with the Orioles. I figured all his hitting would go down but it seemed to be only his Ribbies and Homers went down but he can still hit for average which is more then I can say for some of the players we have currently who are struggling.

Not a bad move by AA low risk/high reward move.

I followed him last year with the O's and he was certainly showing some age in terms of power. His eye at the plate was still as good as ever though. He's one of the best at expanding the strikezone.

Yep, 3 straight bombs to lead off the bottom of the 1st. I honestly can't remember the last time that happened.

Right now? No one. Vladly will be in some minor league games to see how well he fares.

I do think Ben Francisco days are numbered though. He was a head scratcher trade + re-signing and doesn't have much of a role right now. And it makes sense to spell the end of Lind against lefties.

Vladly isn't good anymore but he can still somewhat hit at times. He did have a .841 OPS against lefties and if he can get a little hot, I'll take it because this line-up is struggling right now.

Also, you add some depth in case someone goes down or if a trade happens.

Yup. I hope he does.

Should be interesting to say the least.

If we were going after a pure DH I would have preferred to have a guy like Damon who's more versatile despite his age. But again, this looks like it's in the experimental stage right now.
Damon is a lefty and we don't need a left handed bat. We need some good RHB that can hurt the lefties a little and platoon Lind/Thames/Rasmus.

Yeah I think so too. He never made sense in the first place and makes even less sense now because he almost never plays.

Problem with Vladdy is the Jays are taking pitches and are trying to grind ABs. We all know about Vladdy's patience too...

"It's news because of who he is, but it's a minor-lg deal, no assurances, free look for us."

"If he looks good and plays well, he could maybe help us. You never know when an injury might happen or you might need help."

"Don't know if Vlad can do more than DH, but we'll get some eyes on him, put him in the OF in Florida, see what he can do."

Jays spoke to Guerrero in spring, no deal. He changed agents to Bean Stringfellow, Bautista's rep, and minor-league deal gets done.

Hit another two last inning. All 5 of their hits have been for home runs.

Guess they needed this after Hamilton embarrassed them.

Lind won't be going anywhere -- Francisco will.

Guerrero will probably be a PHer and a DH against lefties, nothing more, nothing less (which Lind usually already sits).

Actually I think we'll see Lind sitting down more against left handed starters. Farrell now has the option of putting EE at first and letting Vladdy DH. This option gives the Jays three power righties in the middle of the order with Bautista, EE and Vladdy.

Wonder whether Vlad will make any sort of impact for the Jays this season.
Hopefully we can get some wins going against the Twins.

I'm an ex-Expos fan and always found it hard to cheer for the Jays once they left

I now have a reason....
