Shades of '90 & '91

Do any of the older fans remember those disappointing playoff losses to the caps where we had home ice in both series? Anyone think this year is very similar?

My first thought is yes, definitely has a familiar feeling, though not exactly the same.

My next thought is... holy crap, when did I get old? (I became a Rangers fan in 1990 - age 12.)

I wonder how many HF posters weren't even born then. I was barely born, I wasn't even 4 yet in 90.

Until 19:53 of the third period of Game #5, yes.

But as an 8-year-old, I bet you at least understood how amazing it was for them to win the Cup, right?

I was 8 when I went with my dad to Game 6 of the 1986 World Series. My dad wanted to leave. I told him that we absolutely could not leave and refused to get up from my seat. Good decision, right? I remember that day very clearly, and the subsequent win, like it just happened. That's why I don't tend to look at age in general when it comes to fans. You love the team, then I respect you for it. I was a very lucky 8-year-old...and a very lucky 16-year-old.

Of course, I was so obsessed with baseball starting out that it would take me a few more years to pay attention to hockey. We can blame the Mets reverting back into their normal subpar behavior for that

The Caps have always had our number for the most part, expect in 94'. Maybe this year will go our way.

And after all this time, I still don't quite know why. It perplexes me to no end.
