I know its way early in the season, but I always like to take a look to the future every now and then. Is there any prospects you guys have your eyes on yet?
funny story. After the Carolina game, I stayed with my son to get some autographs after the game by the player entrance. After a dozen or so, we decided to leave and walking by the practice rink, I see David Conte walking down the sidewalk I said Hey David, what do you think about Zemgus Girgensons? He said "who?" I said "You know. Guy is ranked around 15th and is a bid bodied centerman in the next draft." He said "Oh." And then just looked at me like "what else do you want me to say?"
I think at this point, the scouts are really just gathering data, looking at prospects and that's about all. I doubt that Conte even has much info on the upcoming guys specifically just yet. Besides, who knows if we'd be picking 1st or 30th? ou really can't do anything more than gather data now.
Ironically, before the game during warmups, Conte was in the devils luxury suite watching players and taking notes. Ws he scouting our own guys or looking at someone on Carolina? Possible future trade? i wonder if Lou talks to David about other teams players?

Hmm, anything's possible, but it's been mentioned around here before that scouts attend games all the time, just to scout the various teams. Doesn't necessarily mean there's a trade coming.
Although I wouldn't be surprised if we actually were scouting Carolina for Kaberle.
There's a couple of guys I have my eyes on. I would prefer we go after a RW or C in the first, unless a d-man that you can't pass on drops. It is hard to tell who is even possible to get though since it is so early. I would really like Frk or Dumba, but who knows. A lot can happen in the next 9 months.
I would really like to see us try and make a push for a second 1st rounder, even if it is in the late 20's. That or trying to move up in the 1st round. We have a lot of picks and some prospects that we might not need.

Having draft picks is never a bad thing you never know what your going to get. That said.
I'd rather Lou take our 1st and one of our 2nd's and try and move up into the top 10
Best player available, which would ideally be a C or a RW.
Agreed. I think we need an elite forward out of this draft, though I would not be upset if we come away with a defenceman, as long as he is the clear BPA.

I think Lou might move up to nab a forward who falls, similar to the way we got Parise.

It was the year of the forward, but Nashville walked away with Suter and Weber. Hopefully Lou can package some 2nds and walk away with a center and a RW, sort of like Anaheim with Getzlaf and Perry.
Ryan Murray, he is the Jonathan Toews of defense. But we probably won't have a high enough pick to get him, so besides him I like Jarrod Maidens a center playing for the Owen Sound Attack, a pretty complete forward with solid skating and a great shot. Also like Michael Matheson, a defenseman playing in the USHL, great leader with solid two way play and PP abilities.
