Did anyone else think the penalty on Rupp that led to the tying goal was a questionable call?
I thought it was questionable only because one of the Caps did the same thing to Gabby earlier in the game and it didn't get called. Even the announcers said it should've been 2 minutes. I think it was Laich who was hooking Gabs.
PS - And that Verizon commercial is awesome! lol. I think it's funny... and I'm actually pretty pissed they edited it because now there's no point to it.
How ANY LIVING SOUL could have watched even 50% of the previous playoff games for us this year and not know this is beyond me. What Verizon commercial? The Verizon commercial that qualifies for most horrendous commercial in human history.
Don't particularly like that commercial but I will record it, pump the volume to full blast and loop it on repeat for the next 24 hours if I never have to see the Verizon one again. Not even in the same stratosphere of 'annoyingness'.
could not agree any more. he helped contribute to one of our losses and did not help our cause tonight.
Didn't help our cause tonight?? What are you talking about? MDZ assisted on the game tying goal, deftly feeding the puck down to Callahan by the side of the net.
Boyle stunk tonight. MDZ is expected to have these inconsistent games because of how young and inexperienced he is. Wish Torts would stop changing the lines up, I don't understand why he insists on going away from things that work. Gabby, Hags, and Richie have been a dominant line from like 10 games before the playoffs when he suddenly stopped playing them together. Stepan Kreider and Cally were a dominant line and he suddenly stopped playing them together too.
He's gotta stop this. It's a big part of why we're so offensively stagnant. Have to have more faith that your players will get their stuff together if they have a couple of shifts off.
Aside from that, wow. Got a final at 9 am tomorrow and I'm still thinking bout this ridiculous win.
Surprised that Gabby didn't score. He was on FIRE tonight. If the Run BMC line had any finishing ability we wouldn't need such an epic comeback. We'd probably just win 9-2.
One of the most unbelievable finishes I've ever seen in my life. I was watching the game with my dad, and honestly from 5 mins left and on we felt little hope. Even on the last faceoff I was slouched back in my chair pondering "I guess we need Parise" and "maybe next year". And they pulled it the **** out... and then won in on the carryover PP like I hoped.
Now win it, boys! I will never forget those two moments, but a series win will certainly affirm it. Lose the next two... and it's just Endy Chavez all over again.
I get kinda annoyed by that Bacardi commercial. They keep showing that woman playing a trumpet. In the song the trumpets clearly have mutes (that's what gives them a wah-wah sound). She was clearly playing a trumpet without one.
For those at the game -- Nice job with the loud chanting before the game tying face off. This is where home ice pays off!
Quote:
(The fans) supported us all night. Twenty seconds left, they're standing up chanting "Let's Go Rangers!". That fuels you. To be able to get that one for them and hear The Garden explode--I haven't heard it that loud since I've been here.

Have to say a word about some of the pathetic Caps fans calling us the luckiest team ever.
OH REALLY!? I forgot, which team lost to Bettman and Co. in games 2 and 4? If anything this is the perfect redemption. Redemption for Game 2 and 4... and redemption for Rangers/Sabres Game 5 2007.
Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, Rangers fans. We deserved this and earned this. What an amazing, deserved, and hard-fought comeback.

JUST. WIN. BABY!

When Ward got the penalty with like 30 seconds or w/e was left all i thought to myself was "go figure we get 4 min pp with 30 seconds left" then the magic happened. One more to go.
Please don't even remind me about Endy, so many people forget about that amazing catch because uh well.. we lost lol. I still feel like we should have won the world series that year.
Hopefully getting 3 goals past Holtby ought to give us some confidence now. I think he was starting to get in our heads (i.e. trying to score from ridiculous angles). The Staal goal was perfectly executed. Just put a man in front of the net, screen the goaltender and let 'er rip! Not sure why we don't do that more often.
And you think Dale Hunter might want to change his strategy? He's got two of the most offensively gifted players in the world in Ovechkin and Semin and he's got them playing that silly trap....
I loved the NBC commentator who said after the Ward penalty, "Looks like it's a 4 minute minor, won't really matter", then he back peddled and was like "Well I guess if they get it to OT it would"
Something along those lines..... And exactly that happened.
i almost wanna give one of my votes to AA for that perfect screen. he shadowed holtby's vision so well and gently moved just to the side so the puck could enter the net at the last millisecond, as to not give away that a puck was coming to the left side of the net. rarely is a screener that smart and it really shocked me on the replay.
I agree, I keep seeing the slow-mo replay and my god, that's just a perfect screen.
My Three though are:
3. Stralman
2. Staal
1. Richards
The amount of screaming I did after Richie's goal has left my throat sore. What an incredible feeling winning that game was! I can only imagine how it was at the Garden.
