Assuming all three teams make it, there will be three lower seeds (so they will all start their series on the road, right?) playing playoff games at the Staples Center. It'll be interesting to see how the scheduling works out for them.

You mean a "good matchup" for the Kings? A series that goes five doesn't sound very good to me.

For a team that desperately needs money, home ice means a lot.

Probably.

Different circumstances, but I remember Hanzal trying pretty hard when he fought Kaleta, but that was because he was mad Prucha got KTFO'd. I also don't remember that fight going Hanzal's way either.

Biased, of course:

As long as the coyotes play our game, I don't think we are beatable. I am terrified of the King's raw talent though... Gonna be a long physical series forsure.

And for all you haters out there I just want to ask you to do one thing: Watch this series with an open mind. This is going to be the most entertaining series of this year's playoff.

This is going to be a war. And after this series, Kings/Yotes games will never be the same.

They use the regular season to seed the playoffs at the beginning so that they can sell tickets to the regular season by having it matter. And they need to seed it somehow.

But now that the meaningful games are halfway done...
We're the "1 seed" now.

Beating #3 or #4 or whatever no longer has any meaning other than just another rung in the ladder we need to pull ourselves up to and past to get up to the roof.

Until the Kings are the higher seed, right? And then the seeding is perfectly fine?

This is garbage. I'm pulling for the Kings, but they underperformed for a lot of the season. They earned the seed they got, and now they are working their way back to where they should have been all year. The Kings are still the low seed

I'm glad. Something to add tempo to the division. Its going to be fun to surpass levels of hatred towards teams.

Nobody is picking them for last place/8th place now.

Phoenix makes Nashville look like a team that plays run and gun and flies by the seat of their pants. SO reminds me of watching hockey in the dead-puck era.

To be fair, I'm not saying how they play is not effective. Pretty damn obvious it works, as they are playing for the WCF. Hell, when my beer league team had seven guys the other night, we played just like Phoenix. But it's not entertaining. It's not fun to play, it's not fun to watch, and it's not fun to play against. Sucks the life out of the game, literally.
Looks like crying to me. I dont think they're boring at all, The first few games between the Preds and Coyotes are still the best games played in the playoffs so far imo. I really liked those games.

Their speed can be matched by LA. LA proved that against the Canucks and the Blues. Hit them hard because it's hockey, but it won't decide it. What you have to do is force mistakes. Nashville and Chicago both tried to force their game, and Phoenix just sat back waiting for mistakes.

**** that. Phoenix can match game plans with LA like they could with Nashville. LA has the better top end forwards, but don't rely on that. What you have to do is keep patience. Make them make the mistakes. That's how they beat Nashville.

Don't sit back the entire series, but play smart. Don't take chances just because they are there. Take chances because you just made them give it up. If you get in their faces they have a hard time responding, and then Smith has to prove that he is the goaltender everyone assumes he is after this season and not the goaltender he has been his entire career.

LA wins this series if the team can make good adjustments throughout games. Nashville couldn't do that. Neither could Chicago.

What you're saying is true. But the same was true with the Blues as well. The one thing that has gotten us this far is that our system seems to be designed by Sutter (actually designed by Murray, tweaked by Sutter) to destroy the other team's system, especially if the other team plays a system similar to ours.

Fore-checking the defensemen with 6+ footers, Brown and Richards getting in to your head (although King wound up being that guy last series) to wreck the other guy's defensive system plus activated defensemen, four of the six are PMDs (but even Greene got a goal in the crease).

Forwards who back check and a defense that keeps the puck and shots outside of the crease with Quick in the middle even if the shot or shooter makes it through with a one-and-out defenseman pass...after a few minutes of that, even St. Louis gave up until game 4 (game 3 if you count Stewart...I guess he should count).

And what does that have to do with anything? No one is picking them for a place that no longer exists?

To claim that regular season games only matter because of revenue is ridiculous. LA sucked for a while. They got the 7th seed. Now they are in the WCF. Why pretend like it's all a conspiracy?

No doubt. Coyotes hockey is fun to watch but only if you're a fan of good NHL hockey. We're not selling Euro hockey on huge sheets of ice, no hitting, and double digit goals a game. This isn't the NBA of hockey.
