he said they had been issued, but "declined" to say to who.

Any interest in Latendresse? Minnesota didn't qualify him. Often injured, but has scored 25 goals before.

Some notes from the OTF article that Shea Weber just posted in the Tootoo thread:

Quote:
On Hal Gill - the Preds are negotiating to bring him back, and see him as a good PK specialist and 3rd-pair guy at even strength to play alongside Ryan Ellis.
Quote:
The team is also trying to negotiate with Paul Gaustad, but they need to see if he can come down from the $2.5 million salary from his previous contract, given his limited (but valuable) role.
Come down from his former contract? Why would he do that? If that's the case, he hits July 1.

Quote:
For a backup goalie, they're looking for a veteran option first. The way Anders Lindback surprisingly won the backup job two years ago was nice, but they can't expect that to happen again.

Would love to see Gill and Goose back. I bet we get one or the other, not both.

For a reasonable price, think Goose and Gill would be good fits for this team. As for Tootoo, I would really like to free that roster spot for someone with a higher production ceiling than he has.

July 1st at noon or so. Don't remember the exact hour.

I think we bring in one bigger name (Wideman, Jokinen, Carle), sign a ton of depth guys (last year: Hillen, Sloan, Dupont) and make a big run to bring back Suter.

This is an understatement. If/when Suter leaves, we have endless space.

Quote:
As we reach the critical week in regards to free agents there are some slightly encouraging signs for Nashville in regards to soon-to-be unrestricted free agent defenseman Hal Gill.

According to Gill’s agent, Mark Witkin, there have been talks with the Predators. Read below…

“There have been conversations and I’m hopeful,” Witkin said. “Hal would like to return, and we have to take it day-by-day and hopefully it will work out.”

A Gill return would slightly soften the blow if Ryan Suter decides to leave via free agency. It would also be important for Nashville’s younger defensemen. Gill is known as a solid mentor who greatly helped in the development of Roman Josi last year. Still, nothing done as of right now, but we do know there is mutual interest

Goose is a role player ... very good at his role, but, he's a defensive and faceoff specialist. His current salary is hitting the upper limits for what he brings. Maybe somebody makes him a bigger offer, but, there is a decent chance that he stays at or very near his current pay level which could keep the Preds as a possible location for him. I highly doubt we see that Gaustad signs for $3.5-4mil on 1 July.

I agree from a Nashville perspective, but I just don't see him not hitting free agency to see if anyone will overpay those numbers if this is true. I bet some team will offer $3.

Kicked tires with some Av fans about Statsny, just to see what it would take. They said Josi+Wilson could probably do it.

I would take a long look at that deal IF AND ONLY IF Suter re-signs. If not, we need Josi. Not sure Stats is the ideal guy for us, but he would be a good addition.

Too much. 1st+Wilson is plenty, but the reason to get him in the first place is to play on Wilson's line, IMO.

Stastny is probably the most overrated player in the league. He's, like Jordan Staal, Mike Fisher\David Legwand on steroids. 7 million dollars for a 25-30 goal defensive center?

Pass.

After last summer's RFA debacle, Poile was taking no chances.

Appearently Lindy was qualified before the trade even happened. Must have been about 2 weeks, at least, before the deadline.

WARNING:cryptic Eklund rumor, continue reading at your own risk.

Quote:
Apologies for being cryptic and the delay getting this up. I love my job on days like today, days when it feels like a big puzzle to solve..I have some off-the-record info now, which will I can go live with around at 5pm..that info is interesting and concerns 2 of the major UFA's, however, it is only about half as interesting as what appears to be brewing in the next 24-48 hours in eastern Canada...wow

Really all I can say for now, but I will have more...I was in the middle of putting together a big UFA domino blog, but to be honest until I know if 2 of those dominos are heading out in the next few hours it felt prudent to wait...
