Lucic 2 years away is RFA not UFA.

He's played 5 yrs in the NHL.Players are ufas after 7 pro seasons.
Next summer he'll be a rfa, with 1 yr to go before he becomes a ufa

mean't when contract expires rfa, then he can sign longterm deal. gives islanders #1 lw, with a physical presence, put moulson rw then set. as el nino won't turn into anything special.

Isles with their tight budget restrictions, aren't trading away the 4th overall pick, for a player they probably can't keep beyond 2 yrs.

One of the silliest comments on this board,is when fans remark that the isles 'won't have trouble signing player X to an extension'.

And while,I'm sure the isles appreciate your scouting report on Nino, why don't we wait a few yrs and decide on Nino's development.

thats equally as silly as your assumption that they wont be able to re-sign any player.
nabakov refused to report........and after he did report, he re-signed!!!!

I get the sense that any deal Snow does will bring back another first round pick.

What's silly is pretending the isles don't have trouble signing or keep top ufas.

Snow tolled Nabby's contract. If he wanted to play in the NHL,he had no choice but to report to the NYI.

Nabokov is what 35/36?Playing in a league with a limited number of teams where he would be the #1.DiPietro has played a total of 47 games over the last 4 seasons.
Isles signed Nabokov $2.5m.More then other teams probably would have.

Look at Parenteau.Coming off a 70+ pt season, wanting to stay on LI,pushing his agent and Snow to reach a deal..and his staying is very much up in the air.

Frans Nielsen's 4 yr/$11m deal is below market value. He would have been one of the most pursued ufas on this summer's market, but the young man points out how much he likes the 'comfort factor' and signed a team friendly deal.
