Honestly, I was really, really hoping Q would stay.. but like I said.. he can go to Montreal or where ever now for all I care. Anyone that picks Kitchen over Haviland, clearly, doesn't have a very good hockey mind. An intelligent, potential NHL head coach gets the boot and now we're stuck with a guy who'd be lucky to coach an ECHL bottom-feeder..

I'm beyond disappointed with this move. Shockingly stupid.

I firmly believe this was not a hockey decision at all. This is Q putting himself before the team and its interests, it's all about sticking it to Stan.

Q should be fired for being so selfish. It's ridiculous.

Where's Panzerspite (or, w/e) when you need him!

Those "Fire Q!" posts don't look so stupid anymore.

I in no way, shape, or form think Haviland is an amazing coach. I think he's just an average coach with a good relationship with players. However, if Haviland is leaving, Kitchen sure as hell shouldn't have a job.

I guess I'll try and laugh it off.

Can't touch this, *****es!

I feel like this is a nightmare. We hire Mike Kitchen AFTER we win the Cup... then our PK starts going south and is basically the reason we have to fight to get in the playoffs. The next year the PP and PK sucks worse than ever.

So fire the guy who was here when we had actual success and keep the guy who joined and all our special teams took a turn for the worse. I really am starting to doubt Stan Bowman's ability as GM. He has to see how ****ing terrible Kitchen is. Q is a complete dolt in my book now. Hope he gets fired immediately. Can't believe I was defending this clown show.

I honestly can't believe people are bringing this back to Bowman... This is 100% on Q. We can only hope Bowman gets the green-light and fires Q as soon as possible. He's a joke.. and now, I feel alot better regarding alot of the crap I've given him over the past 2 years. The guy's a moron.

This reeks of a political move. Bowman says something has to change behind the bench, so Q fires Haviland in retaliation. You knew there was NO way Kitchen was going to go, with Q still here. This is absolutely ridiculous, but I cannot say I am surprised in the least. Q isn't firing Kitchen, and I'm betting Havi and those two buffoons didn't see eye to eye on a lot of things. What a joke.

He's Q's boss, surely he had to run it by Stan beforehand.

I could understand letting both of them go or Kitchen only. I think people joked that this would happen but I can't believe it is our reality.

That would be a step in the right direction, which is exactly why it won't happen.

Does this team have some elite forwards? Yes. Does this team have some great depth players who can kill penalties well? Not really. There's no reason that the power play can't do its job better than the penalty kill. The personnel of the power play is in another world than the guys we have out there trying to kill penalties. A power play with guys like Kane, Toews, Sharp, Hossa, etc. on it should not blow like it does. The penalty kill has the personnel to do alright, but I don't think the ceiling is an above average penalty kill. That's why we all ****ing hate Kitchen. Like I said, Haviland is an average coach with a good relationship with players. Kitchen is a below average coach. If you are below average at your job, you should be fired.

According to the press conference at the end of the year Stan said Q has full charge of the coaching staff.

And, Quenneville said Stan Bowman said there was dysfunction in his coaching staff. It was Quenneville's decision to make the change.

Yep, this pretty much reeks of Q trying to "stick it" to Bowman;
