Ian Laperrierre appreciation thread

The Ultimate Warrior. Quintessential Flyer. Plans on retiring after Stanley Cup Finals 2012. Sure hope he sticks around the Flyers for a long time. He is, along with others, who I think about when I think of fitting the team mold. Follow him on twitter.Kudos to a great career and thank you for laying it on the line for the crest. You are the best

I was just about to post this.

Two of my favourite stories about him

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/201...ere/index.html

And the first time he got hit in the face with the puck.

Lappy takes one to the face in the first period against the Sabres. He is escorted off the ice and recieves 50 stitches in his mouth, and loses 7 teeth. When the team returns to the dressing room at the end of the second period. Lappy is suited up and ready to play. Mike Richards immediatly turns to lavy " You can't seriously let him play like that"

One line from lappy.

"I'm playing"

He finished the game wearing a full face mask.

What a hero.

I was at the Sabres game. I thought he was done for sure. I turned to my dad when he came back and said "that is what Flyers' hockey is all about."

First and foremost a solid person. Time here was too short, but it's easy to see why he was well respected.

A guy who deserves all the respect he gets and even more. A real class act and the toughest warrior on the ice I've seen. It didn't take long before he became one of my favorite players when he came to Philly. I wish he could have been here longer, but his health comes first. Have a great happy life, and try to enjoy your retirement Lappy!

I ran into Lappy about a year ago in a Cherry Hill Chipotle of all places. He's one of the most welcoming professional athletes that I've ever had the chance to meet. No one else recognized him, so I just walked by and quietly said, "Go Lappy." He stopped me and chatted me up for a good two to three minutes. In an era where most athletes usually let you down when you meet them, he was nothing but a class act. I wish him all the best in his future, and I'm glad to see that he's healthy. If there's any way the Flyers can keep him on staff, I would be all for it.

Always was a class act even before dawning the orange and black. Was always a fan. Hopefully he stays in the area like he did this past year. Will never forget you, Lappy.

Lappy has officially retired.

It was an honor to have this guy on our team. Hopefully he does stick around and works with the team and media.

Other athletes need to take note. I've never seen a player do so little on a score sheet yet become loved so much so fast. He did his job and he loved it.

Lappy is the reason why we all love hockey so much, yeah it's awesome to watch guys score and dazzle, but the grit, heart, determination, and leadership Lappy has shown in his short time here was awe inspiring, he's blue collar and for me reminds me of how my Pop's was, hard worker never took credit for anything, amazing player I really hope he stays in the org, thank you Lappy for you sacrifice
