I'm still pissed, Holtby deserved the shutout much like Mike Smith the other night when he went 7 periods without conceding.

Here's a middle finger to the people that said Ovi couldn't 'adapt'.

I've been pumping up the Caps for the past few weeks all over the main boards, but I wanted to tell you guys directly how much I'm loving this revamped Washington team. Tough, disciplined, with flawless defense and the coolest goalie in the league right now. Holtby, Chimera, Backstrom, Laich, Carlson -- these guys are terrific and I'm a fan.

I have great memories of my underdog Habs knocking off the defending Cup champs and first seed only two years ago. I hope you guys are loving every minute of this run just as much, and I hope the Caps take it even further.

That's basically what I remember. Holtby had a great game tonight and has had some other great ones, but the protection and help he's gotten from the defense has generally been very, very good. His playoff performance has been good and at times great, but it's also been overrated by a lot of people.

Nicky was a fuggin beast tonight. A puck possession monster. Controlled the game on so many of his shifts. And the Swede-on-Swede violence he perpetrated early on Hagelin was outstanding.

That game is the formula. They can't beat us when we play like that.

Holtby hasn't had a bad game that was even close to the kinds of bad games Varly would have.

Yeah but the game to game consistency in Holtby has been superior to Varly's '09 run. Let's not forget that the '09 Rags did not apply as much pressure as this year's Rags. We carried the play most of the time back then. Varly was mediocre against the Pens

Very pleased with the win. Amazing how many quality scoring chances we don't convert though.

If we want to expand it to the regular season, Holtby has had some utterly abysmal, humiliating performances. Can you think of any of those by Varlamov besides that Rangers game you love to mention?

In the playoffs, Holtby in game 1 of this series was at least as bad as Varlamov was in game 7 against Pittsburgh. I mean, one of the worst goaltending performances I've seen.

Varlamov was very good in the first two games against PIT, which was basically his top-end performance span.

Yeah. The consistency, a couple of **** games aside, has been what sets him apart. I was just saying that Varlamov's biggest highs have so far not been matched by any other goalie in the organization, I think.

Yes, infact you mentioned it for me immediately after the question...

And no, Holtby wasn't.

Agree. But I also think Varly's rebound control was often weak meaning he had to make spectacular saves on 2nd and 3rd chances.

The Subaru commercial with the Dad lecturing the little daughter that turns into the grown up daughter is a good one. Something I will have to deal with in roughly 10 years.

I cant BELIEVE they scored on us again w/ hank pulled. Seriously, maybe we SHOULD start to put ovie out there for those. 3 min and we didNT even get a sniff at ENG.

So nice to see wardo out there forechecking at the end.

Game 7 is gonna be agony. Especially in their barn. Maybe we get 1st goal? That would help.

Lundqvist played well. Game coulda been 5-1. We gotta bury some of these chances.

Yeah, but he made them. Holtby hasn't had to. Holtby's rebound control has been just as bad for the most part. Shockingly bad in some of the games. The defense has been in good position to clear them out. Look, I love the guy, but we need to keep this in perspective.
