Outside of the Kreider goal in game 1...I can't recall too many other odd man breaks the Rangers have had. Strong D last night once again.
Ovechkin crushing fools and making dizzying plays.
Carlzner..I think there is an extra man in there the way they smother the opposition.
Chimera..its like every game he has a couple of those exact same plays. Reason for that is that the Rags D pressure the zone so strong that its tough for them to get back far enough to fend off a skater like Chimera.
Semin just doesn't seem to show up on the score sheet but has been very visible the whole series. He's bound to get a break.
Gotta love Hunter playing Ward in key situations. That will bolster his confidence from last game for sure.
The simple stretch up to Chimera led to a early PP and of course goal.
I also like the adjustments on the PP. Sitting Aucoin heck i dont even need PP goals to be happy, but moving Ovi around after the flubs was smart. Sure it was easy for him to score since Cally fell over trying to cover Wideman - what was he thinking - but still, we adjusted.
I just get the feeling we are slowly but surely putting slightly more pressure on their D. It wasn't just last night, I have gotten that sense over the past week.

Reason: shirley
I keep expecting them to crumble but they hold strong. Very Impressive.
Thoughts:
1. Great game by OV. He easily could have scored 3 last night. I hope Hunter starts his line for game 7. Only gripe i have is his shot selection during one of our powerplays.
He takes the onetimer from a horrible angle on a slow pass. Lundqvist was expecting it the whole time and moved over. OV ended up missing wide and we lost the zone as a results of the puck flying around the boards. Get that on net at least!
2. Mojo has not looked impressive this series. He gets pushed off the puck so easily. Don't blame him on that chance OV gave him though. Lundqvist read it well and Mojo would have had to shoot an incredible shot up high from in close on his off side. Not easy to do while flying down the ice.
3. Green has looked better with every game this spring.
4. Semin is due. I predict a soul crushing snipe early in the game.

Reason: Lundqvist not Lundquist

they have been there. they've had two or three on their pk. they just havent scored them. i remember one on carlson, one on hamrlik, one on schultz and one on wideman.
those were all 2 on 1's. they had a 4 on 2 last night and the rangers took the safe shot and holtby stopped it.
I like how Dale talks about the double minors. Accidental. Hockey plays. Nothing to see here folks.
I am halpy that Dale spoke well of Jeff after the game. From the horrific story of the family car accident, to being a local boy back home now, winding down his career, all Caps fans want him to do well.
nonsense......Varlamov, save for game 7, was the difference against Pit in round 2
No Varlamov and the Pens just might have swept the Caps.
The Pens completely outplayed the Caps for large stretches of every single game in that series outshooting and out-chancing the Caps by a comical margin.
It was an amazing series, but the Caps were happy to even be in a game seven.
In this year's second round series it's taken a Hail Mary in game five not to mention Ovechkin hitting the post early in overtime during game three otherwise the Caps are probably already in the conference finals.
Alan May saying the Rangers are playing the same style as us but we are doing it with more skill. So we are cycling the puck and playing in their zone mostly?

same style, not same system. the caps defensive zone system is very passive. its packed in more than the rangers to a great degree.
McGuire just said on XM radio that the Rangers have never lost a game 7 at home so he says they should have the game without a problem. I think its time to make history here.
In other words: On behalf of NBC Sports, we really don't want to see the last major viewing market flushed down the ****er.
gonna be rooting for you guys saturday like the devils are playing. mainly because i have tickets to the first devils home game and i'm going on vacation next week so if we're the low seed i'll have to sell them. and i hate the rangers.
