Full disclosure: I couldn't give less of a damn who wins this series, and I have no knowledge of the last SC parade the Rangers had

With that said, when there is a parade its pretty easy to differentiate between those there for the parade and those who are just passing by. Especially since roads are blocked off. I know when I am in a city hosting a parade which I have no desire to attend I try to avoid the parade route.

Guess the point is it's just annoying. Ok, the team plays in a really big city, congrats. Along with the New York trend of exagerating everything about the city, there are like a dozen threads and op eds for some reason about how awful it is for smaller markets to have success because......it prevents big cities from having bandwagon parades I guess? It's the same reason Canadian Hockey fans can get so unbearable during international tournaments.

How about instead of talking heads bemoaning the Yotes and Devils for not having arenas in flashy cities, a little respect for these teams for their success? Is that really so hard?

Yotes against Devils would be the most boring final series ever.

I just hope Phoenix doesn't win or make it because that way bettman would get to say hockey works in Phoenix and it would extend for about 4yrs their life in Glendale.

The Rangers offense looks a lot like Georgetowns 4 corner offense back in the day.... if it moves any slower the should be called the Princeton offense of hockey...I love that the Devils are the forechecking offensive team left in the playoffs..Honestly, it makes me smile that people still try to whine about the Devils..lets go JERSEY!!!!!!

Whenever I get inesecure that other people might not like or watch what I like, I become a concern troll over "ratings." I'm a fan, but I care deeply about the ratings televisers and advertisers get. I really hope the areas with the largest population centers get the most excitement, because then it's mathematically more likely that what I like becomes more popular. That really matters to me.

I'm just saying. The Devils thus far have scored 50%(!) more than the Rangers, have a better PP, and put more shots on net.

In the playoffs maybe but ranger scored more in the regular season and we both know playoffs play might not last

I can personally name about ten people who went to the Giants's parade this year who definitely were not Giants fans (A couple were actually Cowboys fans). It's NYC, it's a big deal when a team wins. Because they rarely do, outside of the Yankees and recently the Giants. As a Giants and Yankee fan, I'm perfectly fine with this.

A team in New Jersey, or probably 20-odd other teams in the league, are never going to draw 1.5million people. How is this even news, or a bragging point? Big cities have bigger bandwagons. I have a few friends in LA who recently, via Facebook and Twitter statuses, seem to have discovered that hockey exists. The Rangers play in one of the coolest cities in the world and have done so forever. Of course you guys have a ton of fans. Shrug.

The Rangers scored .08 more goals per game in the regular season.

Not exactly what I would call a significant difference.

These are the 2 teams I want to win for each conference, I don't mind LA but don't want NYR (like van last year).

They wouldn't. Both teams would be exciting to watch in the finals IMO. Of course I'd hate the fact that the rangers were in it should they get there, but it would be exciting hockey. In fact, it'd be exciting no matter what the finals matchup is.

In any case, if we want to go by the incredibly simple yet, IMO, incredibly flawed logic that goals always equal excitement, then the Devils would probably be more "exciting" as they score significantly more goals per game right now than do the rangers. They are also not as good defensively so there would likely be more high quality scoring chances for their opponent as well.

I don't see why the market has anything to do with it.. You're saying if the players swapped teams, you'd be fine watching the Doan Kings and Marty/Parise Rangers? I don't understand why a viewer cares about how sexy the market is.. It's about the matchup and how exciting the teams play.. But okay, I guess low-scoring, defensive hockey in NYC is somehow more exciting then when it was in Jersey

Refer to what I previously said.

So, if the Devils keep playing like they are, they're more "exciting" according to general HF mentality, and if they regress all the way to the regular season numbers, it's a dead heat.
