Remember the days when rangers supporters used to take over the old capital Centre??
Reminds me how Yankees fans flooded Angel Stadium back in the 90's. Something must have happened in the 00's that changed that. Maybe if it's 3-0 or 3-2 i'll consider going if the price is low enough, but it would have to be under these circumstances. After being thrown into the glass outside Verizon Center, then bearhugged, then shook, simply for wearing a Ranger jersey (and talking to my dad I guess?) it'll be hard to go back there unless the Rangers are in a very good situation.

I went for the 2009 playoffs and had a fine experience. Me and my 3 buddies wore our jerseys without issue. There were plenty of other blueshirts around too.
I remember going there in 1994 during the playoffs(I think it was game 3 the Rangers won with a shutout) and there were plenty of empty seats and tons of Rangers fans. We took the Amtrak and I think it was $29 and they added an extra train just for the game. That year it seemed like NYC didn,t start to get Rangers fever until round 3. I guess 3 double OT games will do that. For those who don,t remember that last month was unreal and I wouldn,t be surprised if this team has a similiar month
LGR!

Bruins fan living in DC since 90s here. First, good game today. Bruins slept walked their way through their series. Rangers will not. I predict you beat them in 5. Wideman and Schultz are easily exploitable; Hamrlik is done; you can goad Chimera and even Ovechkin into taking stupid penalties.
As for Verizon Center, the fans aren't dbags like in a place like Philly, but the fanbase is quite engaged and almost everyone dresses in Caps red; it is literally a sea of red. Very LOUD building, too. And, the goal organ is the deepest and most dejecting you'll come across. I was at a game a couple years back when the Bs lost something like 10-2. Not fun to have endured that horn ten times; I still felt it the next day.
Good luck to the Rangers. Remember that two Boston boys (Torts and Kreider) are helping you along.

Bruins HF Board: Come for the lunacy; stay for the snipefest.
Marchand: Today's Linseman
No matter what, Soderberg would've scored there

Yes, I do. It was that way until the 2000s. Even when the Caps suxed in 2005-2008 we still never had that many; always wondered why the numbers dropped.
If anyone wants to get together for a game, please let me know. I was in a bar with a couple hundred others, and was the only Rangers fan. I need backup!

It's not like that anymore. The Caps fans flood that arena. I hate that horn they blow all game, It drives me crazy.

I was just down in DC two weeks ago with my wife and daughter to visit family. Was hoping we had gotten them in the first round as I would've gone to a game. Trying to convince my wife to take another couple of days off to go back down there for next weekend, haha. If I do, Id love to get together! Family lives in Haymarket, so it wasn't too far of a drive into the city, though the metro might be easier, from what I hear.

Definitely use the metro if you can... it's 100x more convenient and you also don't end up paying $25.00 for event parking. Also if you go on a Saturday the metro provides free parking (I believe).

Good to know thanks. We weren't quite sure how easily accessible the metro would be with a stroller and 5 month old baby in tow, so we opted to drive in. Wasnt all that bad, other than parking.
I may possibly go to Game 3. Rangers fan but I live in DC area and I can't stand the crapitals fanbase. I've been to games at the verizon center and agree that the damn car horn blaring is a pain in the arse. I've been to MSG a few times in reg season this year and sad to say it is louder and the fans are more into it at verizon than at MSG, I guess it is really the best game in town (wizards? nats? Redskins? lol) so they live it up. It is indeed a sea of red as anyone watching the game on tv can attest to.
I would love to sit in the same section as other NY fans, preferably a sizeable crowd. not that I'm afraid of dc fans but mostly to get more in their faces. I went to the april 7 game at MSG and there was a section that had three rows of crapital fans which i found very annoying. it would be good to sit behind rangers bench
