I don't know. They have money up the wazoo, but the problem is the hard cap. Being under the cap helps have money to sign important guys like Stralman and Prust, while paying 4.2 mill for a 3rd liner like Dubinsky or a couple of mil for two years for a useless appendage like Rupp hurts the team. In the next two or three years, we'll need the money to sign Callahan, McD, Kreider (remember, by signing him this late we burned a year off his ELC) and others. Remember, this isn't baseball or even basketball, where you can go over the cap by paying a luxury tax (though I hate luxury taxes)

When I care more about Game 7 then my final on Friday, my priorities are pretty ****ed.

The next few days are going to be ****ing torture.

Del Zotto is such a WEENIE. His wrist shot makes Redden's look like Semin's. Really hope we sign Suter so we can trade Del Zotto for anyone who can actually shoot like a man.

Hesitation has creeped into our game. Too much deferring to the guy at a worse angle instead of just firing away. The caps defense has gotten into our heads so were so worried everything's going to be blocked that we wait and wait and pass and wait and hold the puck and pass and wait and then when we wait ourselves into a ****ing corner, then it's time for Del Weenie's 5mph wrist shot that isn't even blocked; it's intercepted like a pass. So ****ing weak.

Get bodies to the net and throw the puck into the crease / at the net from all angles like we did in game 5. Need to make little baby Holtby work for his ****ing saves.

Don't get why MDZ is getting ripped on when he's one of the guys who has been shooting the puck.

He's a passer first. It's Torts (surprise!) who insists on putting two passers to man the PP.

2 moves need be done :
Need at least 2 -3 more wingers ether from within organization or via FA and a D man who can shoot
FIRE TORTS 50 wins or no wins the guy is out
coached routinely , the PP is dismal and his reliance on only being able to win or score one way is what will cost us another PO exit in a very winnable series .
This team is not winning game 7 if it can't get ANY QUALITY chances in the last 2 games against the caps beside last min desperation .

If you asked me, I'd say the Rangers have played this series the way they've played all season minus one exception:

The penalty killing has let them down.

People talk about offense issues but the Caps have scored a PPG in 3 straight games and all from shots from the slot or higher.

That tells me the Rangers aren't dedicated to blocking shots or plays in the corner like they used to.

The bottom-6 needs to be strengthened next year. Period.

I made a joke about Dolan asking Torts to get the series back to NYC cause he could use the extra $$.

Some real head scratching ice time being given out last night.

Furthermore, Nash has made it clear he only wants to go to the Rangers, so there is no reason to overpay. If we're going to overpay a free agent, why not get Parise for more or less the same money. He's a better fit for the team, and costs nothing except bucks.
No matter what happens in game seven I will not be saying "I wish we traded for Nash".

Not at the price Howson was asking.

Hagelin? Yeah, I've got nothin' for that one. He should be on the PP.
So put him at the half wall. Instead, we've got Johnny Malkin on the power play. Who loves to play around with the puck, only to pass it to other team.

D*uche Zotto is getting ripped because:

1) He misses the net by 5 feet everytime he shoots

2) His weak *ss shot gets Blocked the one or two times he doesn't shoot wide

3) He misses the net by 5 feet everytime he shoots

4) He can't handle the puck at the point and ALWAYS loses it to pressuring opposing fowards

5) He misses the net by 5 feet everytime he shoots

6) He can't keep the puck in at the Point because the puck ALWAYS hops over his stick

7) He misses the net by 5 feet everytime he shoots

8) He takes dumb penalties ala the two (back to back mind you) he took the other night

9) His shot gets Blocked again because he can't get his shot through

10) Did I mention he shoots and misses the net by 5 feet either wide or high almost everytime?

A F'ing Men to that. Do*che Zotto needs to go. He is one young asset that actually has trade value on the market. I didn't want to trade him before the deadline for a guy like Nash then. Boy was I F'ing wrong. He would be one of the first guys I ship out of here simply because we can get some good value back for him before the rest of the League finds out all his weaknesses.

On another note.......we can talk about what needs to be done for Sat night. Shoot the Puck, Crash the Net, Show up with some Jam and Conviction. These guys need to play SMASHMOUTH in your face Hockey especially right in front of Holtby. The only thing is......I just don't know if this team has the personel to do that. Let's put it this way......the Kings would have no trouble scoring goals on this Caps D and Rookie Goalie. Why? Because they play Smashmouth Hockey, Sends everyone to the net Hard, and Score REBOUNDS and gets SCREENS.

Our Boys better show up on Saturday night.......or else it will be another EMBARASSMENT. To lose a Game 7 at home to te CAPS especially after the season we've had would be a COLOSSAL FAILURE

Does anyone know who is in charge of the "offense?" because there is no plan at all what to do when they manage to gain the zone. Cycling's great, but only if you want to take time off the clock. Also, our cycle game, you would think, would leave our point men open, but they're only used as a last resort. Usually, they work it back to the half wall...only to throw it into the mess of people behind the net again.

...This team needs an offensive coordinator. Bring in another assistant coach, I don't care what they do, but Torts should give his skilled guys, to open up the game a little more. The biggest problem with the Top 6 is we have skilled guys forced to play grinder roles.

We need a Power Play Specialist Coach too obviously. I've never seen a PP so Horrid. They do the same ol' cr*p over over over again. It is Laughable, and absolute JOKE

Going back to the cycling, we're not even doing very good job of it. Half the time...the puck is being thrown/cycled along the boards to no one else but a Red Jersey.

You would think we would actually have someone in the slot or go to the net hard ONCE IN A BLUEMOON. Just ONCE please?

I kind of figured that offensive coordinator would be in charge of the PP as well.

And going to the slot would require creativity, to actually complete the pass.

When was the last time someone let a point shot rip and it deflected off of one of our guys and into the net? Staal's OT winner went off of Laich's skate.

NHL network was Raving about Holtby. Well guess what? he made stops that any Division 1 goalie would have made. No screens. At all. He lets juicy rebounds come right into the slot, but no ones there because all the forwards are behind the ****ing net all of the time.

For a team that's prided itself on great defensive play, you have to wonder why Ovechkin was left wide open in the slot on the PK. Guess the Rangers thought that the Caps, like themselves, would just aimlessly cycle it around the boards, and never get it to the middle. Oops.

yea.....i don't remember the last time we got a deflection goal (because we don't go to the net) nor the last time we actually got a dirty, ha working, rebound goal either (other than Richards MIRACLE the other night that took an act from God).

I'm sick and tired of seeing all this Holtby cr*p too. Easy Saves that NBC is Gloryfying like he's the greatest thing since sliced bread. Puleeeze

yup. actually it seems like th Caps (Dale Hunter and his STAFF) have actually made an ADJUSTMENT (get THAT TORTS??!!! and ADJUSTMENT during the series) and found a soft spot/seam right in that area slot to straight away from the point). Think of all the goals pretty much straight away that have beaten Henrik high Glove side lately. I can think of a handful......

Not even that. They're getting SHOTS from the middle. We're not even doing that. (And no, Del Zotto, shots into Caps shin pads don't count.)
