If St. Johns beats Shawinigan, are we default #3 by virtue of our win over them? Or is there a tie-breaker game?

All I can do is when watching St. Croix and Maxwell. Those two have to get their **** together and grow a pair, quick.

Tie-breaker sounds more likely. Anyone confirm?

That team looked nothing like the team I saw in game 7 against Portland. From what I saw.....

- Samuelsson would definitely be worth a look @32 (if Thrower is off the board). The kid is extremely strong on his skates and has a knack for being the type of pest that draws way more penalties than he takes.

- That Sea Dogs team must have gone to the Alex Burrows hockey school. I've never seen so many DBags on one team (outside of the Nucks). A lot of pushes from behind, flopping, stick work, yapping. They'll get theirs before the end of the tournament.

- Gernat is Dr.Jekyl and Mr.Hyde. Every brilliant shift is sure to be followed by a dumb one. A raw talent who needs to improve his skating, consistency and do some filling out. Minimum another 3 years before he gets a sniff, but if he can improve in those areas he should be a solid 2nd pairing guy.

- Lazar is going to be a beast, and yet he still might not crack the top 10 in next year's draft. In a perfect world we sneak into the playoffs next year and still manage to land him (likely packaging 1st and 2 2nds). Would be the perfect 2nd line C to RNH.

Pulling the goalie there is one of the stupidest coaching decisions I've ever witnessed.
This tounament has all teams in a dead heat draw and with goal differential looming large. So we what do we do?

Pull the goalie and give up another goal

This game was over, this game was done. That 5th goal nailed our coffin good.

He same player.

There a reason he was drafted so low, he useless without time and space.

Surprise surprise, there is no time and space in the memorial cup.

Brossoit has been really bad. Definitely not helping our goal differential. Honestly, how did he win MVP of the playoffs? He really hasn't impressed me. Too many weak goals.

Seriously? Brossoit has carried the Oil Kings throughout the playoffs, the D has been pretty underwhelming for the most part and he has bailed them out on numerous occasions. You're way off on this.

Why do some of you always complain about the refs after a loss? LOL. I've been to rival boards after a game and fans of competing teams are both whining about the refs. The officials didn't cause us to lose this game; the OKs' players did.

Ugh. In one night the Oil Kings went from being the team in the drivers seat to a team with their back against the wall.

Laxdal has got to be frustrated that his two top goal scorers have been MIA for two months. We're tremendously lucky that our depth is so good.

Lazar has slowed down dramatically but I'll cut him a break. Next year he'll be a year older and he'll take over the team's offence.

Seriously, these are 3 of the best junior teams on the planet and a very good Shawinigan team. No one should be surprised that every team is 1-1 in this series.

There is a tie breaker game scheduled for Thursday, basically the winners of the next two games are guaranteed a birth into the Semi Finals and the finals while the losers have to play the tie breaker.

Yeah I'm pretty sure goal differential means jack all. If the 3rd and 4th place teams are tied record wise then they play a tie breaker to advance to the semi-final. That's how I've always understood it anyhow.

Brossoit was the reason we ever had a chance in the third.

Does goal differential determine who is 1 and who is 2?

You're right, but despite the top competition, it's clear that on the whole, this squad isn't firing on all cylinders. Rachinski, Ewanyk, and the Sammy/Legault/Lazar line are working their tails off, but many others are fighting the puck.

Nerves and bad ice can only get you so far before the team needs to be called out as under-performing. Agreed with earlier poster regarding St Croix and Maxwell. Now's the time, boys...or did they leave it all on Rexall ice against Portland?

Nope the game played in the round robin will determine who wins 1st and who wins 2nd.

So the only way the Oil Kings can win 1st is if they win and Shawinigan wins.

Too lazy to quote everyone, but Brossoit allowed three easy goals in that game. So he made a couple good saves. That doesn't change the fact that a good goalie could have prevented all three goals.

A big difference last night was in goal. Saint John's goalie was better, and they won. It was a similar issue in the Portland series. Their goalie was better.

Although, it is true that our defense has been less than stellar. Lowe has been embarrassingly bad, while Pysyk seems to care way more about scoring goals than defending. Reinhart has, thankfully, been good. Gernat shows flashes of sheer brilliance followed by plays from the book of An_y _elmore.
