Lala, is the Combine only 1996-born players or can it be 1995's as well?

Will the same players essentially be selected that were chosen for the Q prospects game?

95's as well but its mostly 96's

Players who are on teams that make the Telus Cup wont be available so thats alway sa bummer..and than you get kids who declined to go for various reasons and there are usually a few American born players invited as well.

Its entirely up to the CSR to invite the players so its generally players they have highly ranked.

And do the players who go have to pay a fee like the High Performance programs...? Or do they just have to pay to get themselves there.

no there's no fee ....and if you come from more than 100 km. Away they will provide for the kid only a room at an hotel selected by lhjmq.

If you get selected they will send you all the info by e-mail.

Dont worry about it.

How much - if any - influence do agents (actually I think they are referred to as representatives) have regarding who gets selected?

Doesn't playing in the Combine eliminate a player from NCAA eligibility?

No

From another HF Board thread:
1) NCAA actually has a group that monitors the CHL's drafts and camps and sends out an email to all US draft picks a day or so after the draft outlining the parameters of any participation. Also, any student-athlete who desires to play any college sport must go through an eligibility process which includes verifying amatuer status in a sport.

2) After 48 hours in a camp (Q team) a player loses eligibility.

Just to add onto point 2...you dont lose your eligibility after 48 hours...you can stay longer but only if you pay your own way...you can continue to practice with the CHL team but cant play games.

Do not to be worry. Each one of the teams do have their responsibles for the US. And this will being a bigger year because each one of the teams do must take minimum 2 US player. I do think the draft will be interesting point of view american. In this year particulier there are not too of players very exceptionels 1996 from Maritimes or Québec for the LHJMQ (me I think of 3) who do play in US ligues.

Hey thehockeywatchinger,

Thanks for that insight but what I'm getting at these are player's from Quebec who left and pursued hockey elsewere that I believe are more than strong enough even though they are 1995 some player's develop later than others and I'm thinking that if the CSR are not totally aware of them they may get passed by.

Can someone let me know if a MM player in Ontario in his draft year, doesnt get drafted and wants to try out for a Q team. Is this allowed as a walk-on or would he have to wait to go 2x through the ohl priority draft? Thank you for your help with this.

The player has to be in his 17 year old season...which means he needs to go undrafted twice.

Also before a QMJHL team can add a 17 year old free agent from Ontario, that player has to clear OHL waivers and than QMJHL waivers.

Is this how Claude Giroux ended up playing for Hull/Gatineau?
