Fantasy born of fandom if you ask me...

Nobody wants to win more than me, but damn, talk about unrealstic if you think those was team expectations when they fired Bruce. The goal was "get in and who knows what can happen after that".
******** that was the goal. The goal was unequivocally to improve on where Boudreau got us. Otherwise, they wouldn't have fired him.

Game 6 vs the pens. Well we know how game 7 turned out. It felt like i was watching my dog get hit by a car.

I just don't have any faith that the hockey gods will smile on us Saturday.

P.S. How the hell was that not goalie interference in game 7 vs the flyers?
Same way that there wasn't goalie interference called on Knuble on Ward's OT winner in game 7 vs the Bruins: incompetent officials.

Here's to a great game 7. It's been a fantastic series. Tons of momentum swings. Great hockey played by both sides. I am confident that the Rangers will win. But both teams have earned the right to play for the 3rd round, and the better team will come out on top. Good luck. I honestly think that whoever wins this game will go to the finals, because I think the devils have had the easiest opponents so far and both the caps and rangers are better teams.

Cheers.

We did improve unequivocally. Now we actually look like a team that has the capability to legitimately compete in the playoffs rather than get horribly outcoached and choke to lower seeds year after year.

And here they are, ready to play a game 7, in another foreign barn.

Kudo's to the Caps!!!

Whatever happens?

We will win!

LETS GO CAPS!

Actually, he's right, you're wrong Wiz.

The goal was damage control.

One last thing, and then lets can this until the season is over.

What you're seeing here is a combination of things: lucky breaks (no Pens, Flyers, Sharks, Canucks, Wings, etc), a team that has bought into their coach, and solid goaltending.

In the days of the original Cap's board on the Washington Post, I used to tell them something Mickey Redmond always said, and that truly applies here:

To quote the Mick: "The main reason hockey never caught on as a TV sport was that whenever they'd televise a game, the weaker teams would play a grinding game. So instead of losing by a score of 5-1, they'd lose 3-1. Yes, they still lost, but losing by 2 goals instead of 4 was a lot less embarrassing. The TV networks, of course, hated that, as most viewers want to see goals, not grinding hockey."

Kudos to Dale, for getting the team to listen, and kudos to Holltby, for putting us in mind of a young Dryden or Roy. And thanks to the team, for all it's hard work.

We will win tonight!

I'm not proud of this team if they play the rest of this game like they did in the first period.

It would be same ****, different year if they lose without putting some effort forward.

if this wasn't the biggest pile of loser bs. I'm sorry, but they're better than they showed.

They pay big bucks for guys who aren't worth it.

Good thing the WC's are going, because three or four guys care more about that one than they do the playoffs.

im proud of a handful of players, thats all. the ones who showed up every night with only very rare mistakes inbetween. not proud in the slightest of the POS coach or choking, grossly overpaid captain.

Frustrating game, but the Boys gave their all throughout the playoffs. I appreciate the effort, but changes are needed.

Yep. Young Guns need a shakeup.

Probably Ovechkin that needs to go, but doubt he's the one.

They had grit and heart till the end

They didn't get blown out

They lost every game by 1

They were 6.6 away from potentially taking the series with a big win at home

They didn't lose back to back

They did well

They did DC town proud

Good for them

Can't say I'm proud of the game 7 performance. Ovechkin, Semin, Mojo, Kunble, maybe even Brouwer... I expected all of them to be better, but especially OV/Semin/Mojo.

Well, I started this thread, and I stick by it. Proud of the team, we just didnt have it in the end tonite.

Caps werent clutch, thats true. Hurts a lot, but thems the brakes. Caps certainly played well enough, all series, to win this thing. There is a reason being home team works out. All the extra match up benefits, etc etc.

Fun year, I thought.

Will be an interesting off season. Hunter should be back, the team can use some more offensive depth, and continue to play their way into this new system. More 2-way players, specifically at center.

Well, enjoy the rest of the playoffs fellas, I am done with this site for a while. Need to decompress from this one, hurts a bit, dont want to read too much about the NHL.

Dear capitals, great playoff run, made a lot of believers out of a lot of doubters. It made up for a lackluster season. Beating last years Stanley cup champs, and then taking the number 1 seeded team to 7 games and only losing by 1 goal? Great job, be proud. Holtby was outstanding and it was a blast to watch him come into his own out there. Looking forward to next season, october canít come fast enough!

People calling for ovi to be traded and saying he choked, thats really funny. I understand your frustrated but don't be delusional, he was never the problem. This loss stings alot less than previous years, maybe because I know they left it all out there.

Hunters system is a game of bounces. It has its pluses and minuses, but everygame you have a chance to win. This game the bounces didn't go our way, its okay. 31 teams leave unhappy, remember that.

"Proud" isn't a right word IMO.
The team has shown more grit, they kinda adapted for a defensive system, they eliminated one contender and went Game7 with another.
The thing they really need to do is to regain scoring ability for what used to be Young Guns. Scorers really can't get any worse, so hope for the best.
Next year the Caps will finally have a clear starter in Holtby, more experienced youngsters, hopefully less old weight. It's a start.

Yeah, no. They battle and so forth but never empty the tank. It doesn't help when you've got anchors in the lineup and a suspect approach but nonetheless...

I'm still impressed they beat the Bruins with so many underachieving, but they found a way to leave us all with a bad taste in our mouths again by no showing in game 7.

Yes, it is heart breaking, as usual. But this was the best I have ever seen the Caps play.

They played hard all of the 2 series Better then they can say under Bruce.
