Poile is Willing To Trade Radulov's Rights

After his one game ban, and multi-year holdout, I am thinking (like many) that Nashville will let him walk. It would appear many other teams would pass on him as well, so maybe he wants a short term but hefty contract in the NHL, which would make him a great marrying-kind to one Mr. Wang. Since we (maybe more so Mitch) really would like to see Tavares get a wing worthy of his talent it is a tempting prospect to take a chance on him.

His pluses include 1st line offensive talent, mobility, and size. His minuses include mono-dimensional awareness at times, an ego the size of Betelgeuse, and a real deficit in defensive responsibility, though not a complete dog like Brett Hull was. I will include a third category called: rat fink tendencies like not honoring contracts and doing anything to get a ban in the playoffs when your offensively starved team needs you the most.

The minuses I can forgive to an extent, as Brett Hull had them in spades and no one would have pushed him out of the team's bed, but the rat fink tendencies make me vote no.

There is no way I want this guy with what he did in the playoffs. That's unforgivable considering his circumstances. He may be talented, but I don't want this anywhere near JT.

isles have a tendency for giving players with bad reputations chances, i don't see why this is any different

He'd hop on the next flight to the nearest KHL city before signing with the Isles... Also like PW said his antics in playoffs were horrible I voted NO.

You say Snow gives players second chances but only if they are still kids. Radulov is and would be a cancer in the locker room and Snow (who knows about Cappy) would not tolerate that ish for even a split second. No way does he sign here!

Everyone thought Nabokov would be a cancer on this team going into the season because he didn't want to join the club last year. Only thing we have to lose with a player like radulov is money...Chollie don't play that.

Uhh - not to derail this thread with incontinent things like facts, but Radulov is NOT a UFA. He will be an RFA - there is no way the Preds do not give him a QO of ~$1M. Radulov (DOB: 7/5/86) is not eligible to become a UFA until July 1, 2014 at 27 yo (assuming UFA status doesn't change under the next CBA).

Point taken, but I am seeing speculation emerging from the media that they will let him walk which would indicate some are beginning to feel they won't qualify him. Regardless, the question is theoretical. I am interested in seeing what our fan base would do if presented with him on a silver platter. It is early, but the results are already surprising, with an even split in all 4. My expectations were a complete run on "no."

There is zero chance Radulov is not tendered a QO - since due to his late signing and time in Russia he is eligible to be given a two-way QO(*).

The Preds qualify him and either trade him or keep him and if things don't work out they bury him the AHL at an AHL salary. There is really zero risk.

(*) A player is eligible to get a two-way QO if he
- played <60 NHL games the previous year, OR
- played <180 NHL games during the previous 3 years, OR
- cleared waivers the previous year

The heading should changed into "can the Isles sign him". Sometimes people make it sound like the Islanders can sign any guy out there when we all know they can't

Stylewise, he'd look great with Tavares... When he showed up to play. Radulov strikes me as the sort that needs a real hard ass as his coach. Caps is not that guy. Team needs more guys who show up nightly, not more who take important games off. Much rather just keep parenteau, as anything that would likely entice radulov would probably be enough to keep PAP.

No chance in hell he becomes a UFA. His qualifying offer only needs to be about 1-1.5 million. The Preds can qualify him and trade him but we should want no part. He would probably bolt back to the KHL if dealt here.

One press report is that he made $5.5m, in his last KHL season.

A newer report posted on the Preds board,is that he has a 4 yr/$36m offer on the table.

I don't care if he is a headcase, he can produce. I'd rather have him producing 65 points and help get the Isles within sight or in the playoffs then have UFA 'saint' that gets 34 points.

We already have Kabanov who might have these problems when he makes it to the NHL. Why do we need to have Radulov?

Yes this team needs real NHL caliber players and not the Snowang specials we've been getting.

The Isles need to throw a million billion dollars at Parise.

JT is so mature and dedicated that Radulov or any other lockerroom cancer could not corrupt him.

That said, I view Radulov as a cancer and not a good influence around our young players and some of our weaker willed older players too.

Talented, yes. But too much baggage. Puts his own interests above the teams (hello Avery). No thanks.

I rather we attempt to sign Semin. A much better player, who has played very well this year, adapted to the defensive style (saw him blocking shots, and diving to make defensive plays), and will be an UFA. I know it's a pipe dream, but rather go after him than Radulov. We have a better chance of Wang selling the team than us signing Parise (which would be the perfect move).
