All three are better options, overall, as far as I'm concerned. Also, I doubt any of them try to get what Gaustad will ask for in terms of money. Well, maybe Stoll...

As far as defence, I would rather spend and get Garrison than simply apply a band-aid. If we fail to get him, then go for a short term option like Salvador.
I threw Gaustad's name out as an example from the top of my head, didn't know who else was on the block.

Stoll I like, but would he come here if he may end up on the 4th line at times, or would he shift to wing?

Prust is the perfect 4th liner. He can play 3rd line minutes and not hurt the team, solid penalty killer with a motor that doesn't quit.

For defence when I said short term, I meant 2-3 years to give the prospects plenty of time to develop, and can even give us an option to move him or someone else if the opportunity arises.

Salvadore is a fine bottom pair choice, but I'd like a 2nd pair physical stay-at-home type under the age of 33.

Be respectable and at least look to bring back Sheldon Souray instead of any of those blueliners.

Parenteau is just a perfect fit on MTL second line + one of Gaustad or Prust.
On the back end they should add a shutdown guy like Barret Jackman, Brad Stuart, Bryan Allen or even Matt Carkner (Maybe the only one to fit cap hit). That gives habs a lot of dept and a potential playoff appearence.

In a ideal world I see:

Pacioretty - DD - Cole
Parenteau - Plekanec -Desharnais
Bourque - Eller - Leblanc
White - Gaustad - Moen/Prust
Extra forwards: Geoffrion, Blunden, Palushaj

Subban - Georges
Markov - Emelin
Kaberle - Allen/Jackman/Stuart/Carkner
7th Dman = Webwr/Diaz/St-Denis

Pacioretty is a LW
Bourque has seen plenty of time on the LW.
Cole and Gionta are RWs.
Leblanc has seen most of his time on LW.
Grigorenko is a C/RW.
Geoffrion is a C/LW.
Moen can play both wings.

So...

If thats all it would take to sign Rome, theres no way he is not back in Vancouver. Our coach has a huge man crush on the guy.

Allen, Jackman or Sarich

Upfront I'd like to see one of
Semin, Penner, Hudler, Parenteau
Agreed on all counts Let's do this!

Honestly, why not? Budaj is by far one of the worst goalies in the league. Not like Huet could be any worse. Plus, Huet is as French as French gets.

Correction

Grigorenko is a center/left wing

Leblanc is a center/right wing ( he played right on Pleks line and Eller line and he is a right handed shot)

Moen is useless on the right side, played left all his life

Emelin showed us he is far superior on the left side. He just can't hit the oposition as well from the right side (but I'll give him a pass on the right side)

Kberle did not play a shift on the right side all season

Stuart plays the left side but i would take him any day of the week and convert Gorges to the right

Roszival plays left and I'm really not interested

Lets not forget that Tinordi and Beaulieu play the left side also

Pacioretty - Desharnais - Cole
Bourque - Plekanec - Grigorenko
Leblanc - Eller - Gionta
Geoffrion - Torrey Mitchell - Moen
Staubitz, Darche

Markov - Subban
Gorges - Stuart/Sarich/Rozsival
Emelin - Kaberle
Diaz, Weber

My bad, late night post. I meant Gionta but still love this lineup. Habs wouldn't be a cup team but definitly a playoff attempt is a good possibility.
