RFA Targets? Tradeable?

Who on the RFA list or targets on Rosters you'd trade for to fill either Suter's gap or any position we're currently in dire need of.

I have a feeling some of these would definitely consider signing extensions with us to continue their stay as well.

Del Zotto/McD - Young up and coming D-men that would definitely help us. They are about to end their contract and will want some more money. The Rangers may franchise them, but they're currently experiencing some cap issues where there isn't too much space.

Mike Green - Decent D-man, though definitely a bit overpaid for his production. He did have an amazing season a couple years ago and could definitely do it for us in our type of system. They won't have cap issues next year especially with Semin and Wideman off the books. Don't see it happening, but maybe they'll get Suter Fever and go for his rights or want Radulov to speak with Ovie.

Matt Duchene - 1st line center potential. Didn't play the full season last year and RFA status is upcoming. I think Colorado is looking to improve in the Defensive category. Some of our stud prospects could definitely sweeten a pot. It would also allow him to get away from Stastny and shine as the first line center for us.

I think MDZ/McD and Duchene are our best bets. Teams that would be willing to improve their chances with things we have or who need room and can't hold onto everyone. I see the Rangers being in trouble unless the Cap is upped a bunch in these coming years.

I think one of the Rags defenseman (McDonaugh, MDZ, Staal) will be a Pred next year if Suter walks.

There is literally no chance the Avalanche lose Duchene. None.

The odds of any of them (especially mcD and Duchene) being available for anything less than an absolutely massive package is slim and none.

DZ, maybe. But it would take a young roster forward, like a Colin Wilson or a Craig Smith.

Next, we don't really have a whole lot of tradeable young assets because most of them are on D and we have to keep 'em incase we need 'em when Suter/Weber leave.

I assumed he was confusing the NHL with the NFL.

Jordan Stall could be available. But, he's UFA in 1 year-- big risk that would take a lot in return. I could see Radulov tempting them. He's good friends with Malkin and Pittsbrugh needs another scoring winger. Throw in Klein if they throw in Michalek-- partial salary dump for them, but I think Michalek is pretty solid.

JVR could be had as well, but they will likely want defense. Suter's rights + Hornqvist.

Use SK, Watson, Klien as other trade bait. Ellis/Blum/Radulov/Wilson if we are talking about getting a big fish.

I meant long term contracts. I realize there is no franchise tag.

Are you talking about offer sheets? If so I don't think we have a 2nd round pick next year. That would be tough to get a rfa because of compensation

legwand looks to be a pred for life.

I wouldn't mind trading him, though

Maybe Trotz laying the foundation early... I think this guy would be a very nice pickup for the Preds. A solid player who could bring some great leadership to a young team. He has been in Phx forever and when they get bounced by LA in 3 more games i think they will let him go and turn to the youth they have. I do not think you can lose with this guy with a 2-3 year reasonable deal.

DOAN TELLS ALL: The cameras caught Nashville Predators’ coach Barry Trotz, pausing for a moment to talk to Coyotes’ captain Shane Doan in the handshake line, after Phoenix eliminated them in five. What was said in that brief moment? It appeared as if Trotz told him to ‘go win it all.’

“He just was encouraging me,” said Doan. “He and I have stayed friends since we worked together at the worlds. I really admire the way he handles himself as a man and everything he does off the ice. He was saying it's too bad we had to meet in this round and it couldn't be further on. But he was happy for me individually, and said that he'd be cheering for me and he admired and respected the way I stuck with it here and hoped that we had success.”
