Brennan trading Anderson, Loyd trading Alfie, not even June and it's a loooong off season.

For the last ****ing time.

IT

IS

ALFIE'S

CALL.

And it makes absolutely no sense to deal him from a management perspective even in the proposed 'hey we can trade him for assets if he plans on retiring this offseason anyway'
1. You piss off the other GM who thinks he's getting Alfie for a season
2. You piss off the fanbase by trading Alfie
3. You piss off your players by showing them that when push comes to shove, they aren't people, they're just assets
4. You piss off the league because you're clearly attempting to circumvent the cap
5. You wouldn't get much back anyway

Why not be fined a 1st round pick next year for cap circumvention for a cap team who is near the floor.

Then we finish last next year without a 1st round pick, sounds good, lets trade God.

If Alfie is dealt to get to the cap floor and then insta-retires I would think that is grounds for tampering or conducting a deal under false pretenses. I would be surprised if a GM took Alfie and risked investigation by the NHL.

quite useless move. Won't bother, at least I don't think.

Let me get this right - Trade Alfie and a 4th, for a 6th round pick?

Don't you mean something like Alfie and a 4th for a 2nd round pick?

Alfredsson may not care, especially if he is joinhg upper management as a draftpick could help the team moving foward.

Or we can grab a top six foward who is overpaid instead of retaining Alfredsson's cap hit after retirement
If he is traded it will be to a team with a legit chance at the cup it won't be to a team like the Islanders.

I want Alfredsson to retire an Ottawa Senator. I know you are saying that he won't play for the team he is traded to but I still don't like it.

this proposal makes no sense whatsoever'

what do the Sens get out of this deal? Cap relief?????

AND they have to pay 4th to get a 6th back????

WTF. They are nowhere near to needing cap relief much less having to pay up to get it. Now if they traded Alfie to a team that needed to get up to the floor and got back an asset that could play for the Sens, maybe. But only for cap relief? Oooh boy.

I also love this bit..

"If it was up to my four boys, I would wear the Sens uniform again next season," Alfredsson said with a smile.
Except Alfie needs to put the man-longjonssons on at some point and make a decision, he's the one skating, training and grinding and not the rugrats.

Everyone who matters when making these decisions (Alfie, Melnyk, Murray) has said that they want him to remain a Senator for Life. Not gonna happen.
