That is the best defense in the league. Then we resign Staal and sign a 3C. We get cap space too sign Letang, Crosby, Staal, Fleury.
I'd love to see you guys get enough cap space to sign both of them and keep all the other guys. You'd almost have to move Malkin to do so.

While Hedman is tempting, it's not enough. Brewer and Malone are both 30+ and without Weber and Suter we wouldn't need their veteran presence that a contending team would. Detroit's 1st is low and not very valuable to us.

Hedman + 2 1sts + Purcell + Malone?

They may be 30+ but are still playing well and keep you competitive and not be a rebuild. Their cap hits would have to go to make room for the two of them. You do know Suter is a UFA so your not gonna get as big a return for him. Det 1st is gonna be 19 that's not that low. If you want future 1st's sure, cause with the two of them we'd be in the playoffs and be picking later. We aren't gonna add Purcell either, unless you are adding to the two of them.

No from Nashville.
Perhaps for Weber only. (RFA)

Well when your talking about #1 and top 5 in the league now and for years to come you will have to pay ALOT if you want both. Martin is a capdump so he holds next to no value. Michalek holds good value though.

Yeah Staal + Letang + 1st would probably be fair. But Malkin + Martin + Michalek is also fair. If you don't offer Crosby, Staal or Letang and instead try another package for Weber and Suter you would have to include Malkin, just sayin'.

nice one, you had me going there for a while. Wait, you're serious...?

I would probably not trade a signed Weber for that package alone. And you want them to add Suter?

edit:

To Toronto: Shea Weber, Suter (both signed, as you insist)

To Nashville: Kessel + 5th + Colborne/Kadri + Gardiner.

Dunno if Preds would want that though since they already got Blum, Josi, Ellis etc. They need some mature, defensively sound players. And no Dion Phaneuf is not good in his own zone... as they do want to compete now I wouldn't be sure that they'd accept this offer. Nice package but it's not filling their needs.

I think they could get a just as good or better package containing a good D and a 1st line center and then some for a signed(don't see why they'd trade 'em if they were signed...) Weber and Suter.

Suter is a UFA... I doubt his rights go for more than a late 2nd/3rd if they're even moved. So you're essentially trading for Weber, and hoping you can sign Suter. At least with Weber, you know you're going to sign him (for at least 1 year).

If Suter is signed then there is absolutley no reason for Nashville to move either one, his rights would be what's traded and you would just have to hope he would sign once Weber is re-signed.
Though it isn't the Sharks biggest need, I would still love to do a move for them

Marleau, Burns,Clowe
for
rights to Weber, Suter and Radulov
Preds get a young top pairing defencemen on a great contract, a consistant 30 goal 1st line forward, and a power foward and leader. Sharks would take a gamble that could hugely pay off. Thornton and Radulov together makes me drool.

Well he asked for both Weber and Suter signed for that package.

If Nashville can sign them, they don't trade them. Nashville would be trading Webers RFA rights and Suters UFA rights. The poster was saying he'd give up that package under the assumption that Toronto could sign them.

GMs allow other GMs to talk to players all the time to see if an extension can be worked out before pulling the trigger on a trade. Other times it's no, you want to talk to him, give me something (see Hamhuis's rights).
