Puck Daddy Geno Interview

Nothing groundbreaking or anything but a nice conversation. Discusses Bryzgalov, signing a chicks chest, and the Crosby's Tears brew.

What are your thoughts on the fact that there is a sort of beer called Crosby's Tears in Philadelphia?

"[Laughing] What can I say? I don't think I can say anything. This is Philadelphia and they all know how they feel towards Pittsburgh and Crosby. I hope next year we will beat them and come up with our own beer and call it maybe Giroux's Tears."

Really enjoyed reading this. I don't know why, but Malkin's humble attitude somehow always surprises me every time I read an interview even though we've seen it for years. I guess it's just hard for me to understand how someone can be so damn good on the ice and play with such great swagger (when he's on, of course) and then be so humble off the ice.

With him and Crosby (hell, everyone on the team) we really are spoiled that our stars are also our hardest workers and most humble players

Here's the complete article in Russian: http://www.sovsport.ru/gazeta/article-item/526051

http://babelfish.yahoo.com/ translation is a bit more readable than http://translate.google.com/

Great interview... Malkin is actually a very well-spoken guy in the right setting. I just think he gets nervous when it comes to some interviews.

In his own language, he's always insightful and well-spoken.

I can only imagine what a tard I'd sound like if I moved to Russia and had to be interviewed in Russian - even 6 years after the fact.

He's probably one of the most well-spoken athletes I've ever seen in his own language. Not many cliches or meaningless answers.

They were the two best and most dynamic teams in the league, and Detroit had a ton of skilled Russians.

No mystery here.

I know, but growing up in the 90`s and liking Det and Col at the same time is slightly weird.

I think Russians, and really most non-North Americans, root for teams that have great skill and that employ their favorite players (or countrymen). There isn't the connection with a region or organization like we have growing up here around the league.

Reading Geno interviews is always a treat. Humble yet interesting guy.

IMO, it's how he was raised. You get the same thing with Sid.

What really keeps standing out is the respect level between him and Sid (you see it in interviews with either one of them).

I always knew that they were friendly/friends, but I'm getting the impression that they actually have become pretty tight. I wonder if part of that is due to their both being hurt last year and spending so much time together working.

Yeah, I think Geno said that Sid would check in with him last summer from time to time to see how his rehab was going, etc. They're definitely pretty tight.

Name the oddest thing you were asked to sign your autograph on?

"It has to be a woman's chest. Not a naked chest, but on a T-shirt that was covering it. It happened after the charity game we held last summer. One girl came up to me and asked for an autograph. Of course I was surprised a little bit."

Point

None of the translation programs are all that great since they just literally translate the words ... Like c'est la guerre in French is literally 'It's the war' but that's not what it really means. Still, using those programs you can at least get the gist of it

It would be great if someone could translate the entire article ....

Joe Victory's favorite player and the best player on earth, he is. League image and marketing matters not.
Judge ME by my image do you??

...and well you should not. For the borscht is my ally. And a powerful ally it is. Drawing tears from Giroux, from the goalies... from the trees... everywhere!

Not really. I liked them both. Loved watching them play against each other.

Vladimir Konstantinov was my favorite defenseman and Joe Sakic was one of my favorite players to watch. I remember going to a game at the Igloo in 89' against the Nordiques with my dad and us both saying "Wow...Sakic is going to be a great player."

It was the absolute best rivalry for a while out of all sports.

I'm not sure which is funnier: Philly having Crosby tears or Malkin suggesting Giroux tears.
