UWO Hockey

Any news surrounding the team for next season? Rumor has it they are losing 7 players. Who have they committed for next season?
Whats UWO's walk on status like? I know they recruit pretty heavily so I'm wondering if there is any potential for players to obtain a walk on spot with the team.

UWO losing 7? Who is rumoured to be leaving and are they leaving because their time is done at UWO or moving on because they are unhappy?

With a new coach in place, just give them a call and asl what the walk on status is? What have you got to lose?

Western has their big 3 of Turkiewicz, Snow and Baker through 4 years, Geoff Killing is through 4 years, and former Fronts Captain Adam Nemeth is gone for sure after 5 years. Newcomers are rumoured to be Daniel Erlich (Barrie), Norm Ezekiel (Barrie), and Stephen Gaskin (Guelph).

Typically CIS teams hold an "open" tryout. The team I follow is Laurier. Last year they had a posting on their men's hockey website. Cost was $50, you had to pre-register with the head coach via an email, with health forms filled out by a physician. Tryouts are usually 2 days.

Western is typically a strong team, with 2 major junior goaltenders, about 6 major junior defencemen, and before injuries, typically about 9-10 major junior forwards. With injuries, there seems to be room for about 2-4 junior A or B players at forward. Of those players, most scored around 50-65 points in their respective leagues.
