Couldn't of said it better myself.

In the Quinn and JFJ eras, Cox was pretty bias with his dislike towards them as GM's. But since Burke has been hired, I've noticed alot more articles by him that's written from an unbias POV.

Great article by Cox!

What a well written article. A rarity for Cox.

Rosie should be letting Gards use the stick he wants. One guy is a goon, the other is a star in the making.
You haven't been on a sports team have you? haha

And Eakins stated his loyalty/love for Burke, might not have to worry about him going anywhere.

I can get the equipment to the bus and footing a bill for a team dinner but something as big as one of the best players on the team's performance being affected, you'd think they'd put down the unwritten rule book.

Oh please. An AHL championship would likely be the crowning achievement of Rosehills career. Having one of your most talented teammates performing at his peak should be a priority. You'd think he would give it up willingly.

This. Really, really don't like Cox but this was an incredible read.

What could the AHL possibly do to Gardiner/the Marlies if he used his regular stick? A fine? They won't forfeit games over something so minimal. I say let him use it and pay off the fine if they find out.

This article just instantly made me a supporter of the Marlies.

Finally, finally someone put a little substance to this team and revealed the human and emotional side to them, rather then just a feeder team to be mostly ignored.

MSLE has done such a poor job with the Marlies in my opinion, I could never take them seriously with the very lame website, and equally childish promotions.

Although credit should also be given to Burke who actually has shown respect for this team and understands the importance of building the Marlies and not just the Leafs.

Such a great read, so refreshing from the constant BS out there. A new fan here.

It's something called earning your dues. Younger players/rookies, no matter what skill level, do this in all levels of hockey.

Limiting what equipment you can use at the AHL level is so amateur.

Are there rules regarding covering your entire stick in black hockey tape/paint? Because I would do that if I was Gardiner and play with my usual.

Clearly you've never been in a hockey locker room. Respect is everything - and let's be serious, gardiner's stick should not be that big of an issue.

Gardiner should do what Ovechkin did and rebrand a bauer stick to be a reebok.

Even if rosehill gave it up, there'd be about 15 other guys ahead of Gardiner in line.

Reading this article in particular the respect and brotherhood between the players, I doubt Jake would even accept an offer from Rosie to switch sticks. This is why this team works, no one player is put above another, grinder or star. Dallas wouldn't allow it.

Cox showed why he has a job in writing.

When he avoids putting his own POV in his articles and focussing on good stories, he writes great articles. To this day I maintain that Cox is a hell of a writer, has great command of words. its just his bias which ruins his articles

I went to school with Dallas and had no idea of his time before he came here. He was always a pretty serious guy though but always a nice guy.

I don't think you can call an illegal stick penalty based on the brand of the stick a player is using. There's likely nothing in the AHL rules that considers that.
