It would appear as though Slovakia's more defensive trap style this year has caused other teams some problems. Especially when you must deal with future hall of fame defenseman Zdeno Chara. Anyhow if I was Switzerland that is what I would be weary of. It is not an enviable position for the Swiss, especially since they only have six points and will be forced to be more aggressive.

Do not forget Bezina is missing. Swiss defense looks now even more like Swiss cheese.
The pressure is not on our side. I suppose comfortable win.

We'll see! ;-)

I don't know with which goalie Switzerland must go. Perhaps i would give a chance to Stephan to redeem. And i would put back Nino with Ambuehl and Wick. Niederreiter creates a lot of space.

Switzerland has something to be forgiven after a horror game vs the French.

Sure...I think slovakia will win it 22:0...after all swiss are amateurs who plays hockey for fun and recreation, while slovakia is hockey powerhouse that won 6 gold medals in last 7 years...

No need to be overconfident

Lol @filip...you do realize that a 4-2 win for example can be considered a comfortable win in hockey? Where exactly does begbee´s post say that Slovakia will cruise over Switzerland? He was just merely pointing out that the current situation favors Slovakia.

Still expect a close game in this one, hope for some good hockey (with a positive end for Slovakia of course).

Yes, can be, but post of begbee sounded so arrogant to me...like "we crush belarus, now we will beat swiss with ease"...but as I don't like slovaks and do like Swiss maybe it was just me...

It was not meant this way. I've expected something like 4-1, 5-2 or 5-3 while controlling the flow of the game with constant lead. Why? Because it seems like everything works for us.
On the other hand, Swiss always knows how to play us.

I expect our win, do you want to kill me for it?

Swiss:
1. they MUST win this one
2. Bezina (best defensive defensman) is missing
3. lesser time for the rest
4. they have to play

Slovaks
1. they have played 4 good games (- Kazakhstan) and are confident
2. the QF is not lost if we will not win
3. enough time for the rest
4. Vujtek trap system will work against Swiss
5. hot goalie

Sorry, but that just isn't true. Bezina has been the weakest Swiss defender the whole tournament long. Just because he is big doesn't mean that he is good defensively. Most times he was a liability out there. Not that he is bad in general, but he seems to be out of form, it has not been his best tournament, that's for sure.
On the other hand, Roman Josi joined the team. We had a defender too much with Josi added, so Seger had to play forward. With Bezina out now, Seger can go back to play defense. After all, the loss of Bezina is nothing I worry about, Josi is easily an upgrade over him. What we miss is one forward, but we had that problem already with Bezina in the line up.

It will be a difficult game for us. I hope we can win, but if so, it will be very close. We need some secondary scoring again, and our PP has to get going. Brunner alone can't do it all. And on the other hand, our PK needs to become more stable too. That is the only part of the Swiss game that is really world class, but against France it was just weak with 3 allowed PP goals for them.

It's a little funny to hear that Bezina is one of the best defensive player. On contrary, i think he is the worst too.

USA has defeated Finland, so Switzerland can no longer catch them. This means the Swiss can still keep their fate in their own hands if they take 3 points against SVK. Anything less than that means they will be reliant on France to defeat Slovakia.

According to IIHF-Lineups, Berra starts for Switzerland.

Brunner joins Wick and Ambühl, Romy with Hollenstein and Bieber, Nino with Monnet and Rüthemann. Sbisa with Furrer, Josi with Du Bois, Streit remains with Blindenbacher.

Didn't know Hossa played for SVK team this year. Apparently our media missed it.
