2012/2013 Ottawa Senators Lineup/Roster Thread

This board seems pretty dead right now so may as well get this started. What do you think the roster will look like to start the season? I'm sure the thread will change a lot throughout the summer.

Signed roster: (with realistic chance of making the team)

Forwards:
Jason Spezza - $7,000,000
Daniel Alfredsson - $4,875,000
Milan Michalek - $4,333,333
Chris Neil - $2,000,000
Kyle Turris - $1,400,000
Guillaume Latendresse - $1,250,000
Peter Regin - $800,000
Colin Greening - $816,667
Zach Smith -$700,000
Erik Condra - $625,000
Jim O'Brien - $637,500
Kaspars Daugavins - $635,000
Mika Zibanejad -$1,775,000
Jakob Slifverberg -$900,000
Mark Stone - $900,000
Andre Petersson - $730,000
Mike Hoffman - $676,666

Defensemen:
Erik Karlsson - $6,500,000
Sergei Gonchar - $5,500,000
Chris Phillips - $3,083,333
Jared Cowen - $1,265,000
Mark Methot - $3,000,000
Mike Lundin - $1,150,000
Mark Borowiecki - $610,000
Patrick Wiercioch - $875,000

Goalies:
Craig Anderson - $3,187,5000
Ben Bishop - $650,000
Robin Lehner - $870,000

UFAs:
Jesse Winchester
Rob Klinkhammer

I'll keep this list updated through the summer.
Who do you think we be let go or re-signed? What will the lineup be on opening night?

Right now I'm hoping for:

Greening ($816,667) - Spezza ($7,000,000) - Michalek ($4,333,333)
Silfverberg ($900,000) - Turris ($1,400,000) - Alfie ($4,875,000)
Foligno ($2,500,000) - Smith ($700,000) - Zibanejad ($1,775,000)
Condra ($625,000) - Winchester ($1,100,000) - Neil ($2,000,000)
O'Brien ($1,000,000)

UFA - Karlsson ($6,000,000)
Cowen ($1,265,000) - Gonchar (5,500,000)
Phillips ($3,083,333) - Borowiecki ($610,000)
Carkner ($900,000)

Anderson ($3,187,500)
Bishop ($650,000)

Total cap hit of $46,595,833 (Salary Cap is $64,300,000). That leaves almost $18 million to sign a UFA defenseman and re-sign a few other guys for depth (maybe Konopka and Daugavins). If we could somehow get Suter I would probably cry.

Edit: Just realized that I forgot about Regin...I know I want him on my roster, but I dunno where to slot him in.

I don't think that would be all that surprising since he was there most of last season and did pretty well. But since I forgot Regin for those combos I'll try again.

Silfverberg - Spezza - Michalek
Regin - Turris - Alfie
Foligno - Smith - Zibanejad
Greening - Winchester - Neil
Condra/O'Brien

Those botton 2 lines could wreak havoc.

I'd switch Regin and Foligno. Murray said the second line needed a 20-25 goal scorer, and asked Foligno if he could step up next year and be that guy to which Foligno said yes. So...I'm going to assume that means Murray/Stache have penciled him in as the second line left winger.

I agree that Foligno is probably penciled in right now, I just personally think that Regin will outplay him at camp.

I just think that now having the summer to make some deals, and with management making it clear that they want a top 6 forward that it would be pretty disappointing to see greening on the top line again. He did well for us last year but a lot of that was over achievement at the beginning of the year/

Would like for us to get Suter but I think we'll go for a cheaper guy to fill the need we have on defense.

Up front I have this thought we should add Whitney if can get him away from Phoenix in the offseason.

If Alfie comes back I'd prefer him to play on the third line so that if we make the playoffs he won't be completely tired out. I'd also like to see Winchester back but who knows what his health status is now.

This is who I think will end up being on the roster out of training camp next yr unless Murray is able to sign a UFA or two & there is always the possibility of a trade. I doubt anyone he drafts this yr will play next season in Ottawa.

***LW*** ***C*** ***RW***
Silfverberg - Spezza - Michalek
Foligno - Turris - Alfredsson
Greening - Regin - Condra - I could see Stone or Zibane here by yr's end
Z. Smith - O'Brien - Neil/Konopka

***LD*** ***RD***
Cowen - Karlsson
Phillips - Gonchar
Boroweicki - Carkner/Gilroy could be re-signed or a UFA

Goalies: Anderson - Bishop

I think he has a bit of value as a 4th liner. Quick breakouts and can burn the occasional team with some speed.

He's right up there with Schubie Schnitzel for his ability to convert breakaways though.
