Wow. That is silly money for Jones. Getting Foligno for 3 will be a coup if they can manage it. No way 2 point anything will happen now. And EK's money is going to be big time.

Remember when we thought 2.5 was HUGE for depth players? That didn't seem that long ago.

Jones was a UFA, Foligno isn't. That alone makes quite a difference.

Im sure Folignos camp will have some comparables in the 4M range(JVR, Stafford, etc) even though they had down years. I assume the Sens will push for 2.75-3M.

If you look at the UFA market. A former 27 goal scorer(Jones) was going to get that money from somebody.

It was bad asset management. In what universe do you give up a early-mid 1st round pick for an injury prone goaltender that has never played a full season in his career?

Meh, I bet people would like the deal if it was like 3.5 mil. 500k makes that much of a difference it seems.

Teams usually overpay for UFAs anyways.

Marlies got screwed. Should've been a no goal call based on the AHL's rules.

I've always been curious about this. If on a delayed offside, a player dumps the puck and it hits an opposing player, who happens to deflect it into his own net, does it count as a goal?

I like this "Inside the Cup" on CBC. How many times do we need to see Richards beating Andy blocker side?

Sharks pick up Brad Stuart's rights from the Wings for Andrew Murray and a conditional pick in 2013, not surprising.

Can somebody explain this to me? The players were offside when the puck was dumped in, but had tagged up over the blueline before the puck ever crossed the goal-line. Is the goal still disallowed?

Yeah, Stuart to San Jose was the worst kept secret in the league. No-brainer.

I'm stunned Detroit was even able to get something for Stuart, eeven if it's just some pocket change.

I'd call that professional courtesy considering the relationship between the franchises. If I'm not mistaken the Red Wings didn't have to release Mclellan when they were looking for a coach.

Someone on the trade board apparently saw on the Sportsnet ticker that Kelly was resigned for 3 years, $12M, wow!
