Pittsburgh / Columbus

To Pittsburgh:
Rick Nash
Jack Johnson
CLB 1st in 2012

To Columbus:
Evgeni Malkin
Zbynek Michalek
Simon Despres
Eric Tangradi
PIT 1st in 2012

Pittsburgh gets a star winger for Crosby, which also lets Staal move up to the number 2 center role. They also get an upgrade on defense, with Johnson.

Columbus gets the star center they so desperately need along with some good young pieces in Despres and Tangradi and a late round 1st to compensate them with the loss of 2nd overall

LOL. No from the Pens. I wouldn't trade Malkin for that package.

Is this a real offer or NHL 12 offer?

Jack Johnson is not an "upgrade on defense". Do you think it's a coincidence LA took off when they dumped him?

Uhh... they probably took off because they got Jeff Carter.
He's been better than good in CLB.

Pens say no, Nash's cap hit is too expensive

If I was PIT, I wouldn't trade just Malkin for that.

Too much going back to Columbus aside from Malkin. Maybe add only Despres and take out the rest and you have a start, but Malkin is the best player in the NHL at the current moment and would probably command more

That's about what it cost to just get Malkin.

That star center is a ufa next summer. If I'm in Columbus' front office, that is a huge drawback to this trade.

Columbus packages it's 3 biggest assets, for a soon top be ufa and several lesser players/pices?No thanks.

Trade Nash since he's demanded a trade.Bring in the quality youngsters from the Nash trade, along with that 2nd overall and keep Johnson.

I don't even want any of those things, much less at the expense of Malkin.

Actually he has two more years until he hits UFA. You are right though, as badly as everyone is making this out to be for CBJ, I don't know if it would be worth it to make this trade. Who knows if Malkin would even consider re-signing. If he doesn't, is his production in that 2-year window make this trade worth it? Doubt it.

I also don't get, why Columbus would package their 3 biggest assets.

Wow...total overpayment by Pens. Not a chance it'd be given any consideration or even a counter - that's how far off it is.

yea NO THANKS from this #CBJ fan ... any deal involving Nash probably will not be bringing back any significant contracts ... and i doubt we would be that interested in trading that far down ... so um no ... i like Geno too , but not that much ... and yea JMFJ is staying exactly where is he is the next captain of the jackets

Wouldn't deal Malkin alone for that package. Want no part of Nash and his contract. Anything based around Malkin for Nash is a 100% non starter, hell anything based around Malkin altogether is a complete non starter, this is absolutely terrible.

Lmao, good god, a terrible trade for pitts..

Malkin is way better than nash

This deal would be more fitting for pittsburg

To Pitts

Jack Johnson
1st round pick (2nd overall)

To Columbus

Michalek
Tangradi
1st Round Pick

Pitts

Jack Johnson
1st round pick (2nd Overall )

Columbus

Michalek
Tangradi/ Kunitz
1st Round pick
2nd Round 2013

Is probably as close to fair value as it gets for CBJ because jack johnson is overrated by his play in LA, when he had a surrounding cast of studs..

This trade is actually 10x worse than the OP. You cant be serious.

Malkin is much better but only for two years with Nash and Johnson signed long term. Columbus has become a better team since Jack Johnson arrived. Still dont think he is the greatest in the defensive end, but he brought some competent defensive play and physicality Columbus has been missing all year.
