Shannon wasn't coming back anyway, seems like bye Purcell/Connolly hello Schneider/Bernier.
Why does it have to be bye to anyone? Seems like him playing on the third line to start wouldnt be a bad thing. He has decent wheels, pretty slick hands, and a good shot. I also like the way he shoots at different points in his stride and in different unconventional situations.
Could be a good signing for sure. Just need for him to actually sign haha.
He's playing in the Swiss league, expecting him to take anyone's job or make the roster is a stretch. Yzerman denied to DC that he was offered a contract but they're interested.

I didnt see anything in DCs article about a contract one way or another.
From the video on Bolts Prospects, you can tell he has the skill. He has a very distinct skating style and has good hands and a shot. Only thing that I would question is his physical side of the game and if he could handle it in the NHL etc.
I could see him being solid on the 3rd line and spot duty on the 2nd line with some PP time maybe. And going from there. But I agree, hes not an instant fill in for taking someone elses job outright, thats for sure.

Let me change my initial response, I don't see Shannon back. I also don't know if he can win a spot or be productive if he signs. If he does sign I think SY would be willing to part with another winger to attempt to get our potential future goalie.
Yzerman also announced contract offers will not be made to 2010 draft picks defensemen Geoffrey Schemitsch or Adam Janosik, allowing both players to re-enter next month's draft.
Machacek is likely to be out for the IceCaps, thats a pretty big blow to them. He is still listed as a gametime decision, so even if he plays it will be nowhere near real strength, imo.
From what I recall, Tokarski was very alert in the opening minutes of the 1st period, in which the IceCaps were really pushing for the early away goal. Also confident on the PK which ensued, no rebounds given. IceCaps got more desperate later on, so shooting from any angle.
Obviously, IceCaps without one of their star players tonight, so...
