I can't even imagine being on that team right now. That goal puts you down 3-0?..

Sucks as a Leafs fan, but I must say, your avatars are prophetic. In all seriousness though, the Ads are showing what it takes to win and it's a well deserved Calder Cup.

Thinking the same thing. I wanted a video the second I watched the replay and realized what happened.

One of the strangest goals in a long time and sad for the Marlies players at the same time to end a game that way but that's life....Thanks for posting the stream for the game. I was rather annoyed to come home and find CBS sports was part of the pay levels on FIOS that I didn't get.

Thats the hockey gods saying a big **** you to Scrivens for his ********. Awesome.

Norfolk deserved to win anyways.

I hate Championships won on away ice. But if its not on away ice that would mean that the Ads would have lost 2 in a row and only up 3-2 so dont want that.

Finish it off with a sweep boys!

As a Toronto fan, that was so disheartening but I'm pretty sure that goal was supposed to be called off. Unless the AHL rules are different, if a player shoots the puck in on a delayed offside and it goes in the net (providing that none of the opposition players touch the puck), the goal has to be disallowed. Marlies loss to a stanchion and a bad oversight by the refs

I saw a few guys on your board say the same thing and the part they seem to be ignoring is this.

Quote:
Delayed off-side
83.4 Disallowed Goal – If the puck is shot on goal during a delayed off-side, the play shall be allowed to continue under the normal clearing-the-zone rules. Should the puck, as a result of this shot, enter the defending team’s goal during a delayed off-side, either directly or off the goalkeeper, a player or an official on the ice, the goal shall be disallowed as the original shot was off-side. The face-off will be conducted at the face-off spot in the zone closest to the point of origin of the shot or at the nearest face-off spot in the neutral zone adjacent to the attacking zone of the offending team.

The only way an attacking team can score a goal on a delayed off-side situation is if the defending team shoots or puts the puck into their own net without action or contact by the offending team.

Other than in situations involving a delayed off-side and the puck being shot on goal, no goal can be disallowed after the fact for an off-side violation, except for the human factor involved in blowing the whistle.
That means as soon as the Norfolk player exited the zone the puck was "fair" and he did that before it went in. If he had still been in the zone when it went in then it would be grounds for a no-goal situation.

Negative ghostrider, re-check that rulebook.

FTR the whole thing rests on it being a shot on goal or a shot at the goaltender which it was neither, which is why it stands.

****ed up? Sure. Tough way to lose? More than tough, brutal. Still legit by the way they consider it. Its weird.

Ahhh, I totally missed that part. Hard to decipher where the shot was intended to go but with the rules specifying a shot on goal, if I were the ref, I would give the benefit of the doubt as well. Damn that's brutal. Now I can go back to just being sad about it

Right, but what changes things is that they're not considering it a "shot" but a "dump in". Thats pretty much it.
