Hey just curious what you guys think of J.T. Brown, his upside, and what his chances are of cracking the top9 this season(hopefully). I have an interest in NCAA prospects and he, atleast from my perspective, sounds ready to take the next step.

Brown seems to be well thought of by the org and the fans. His chances of being on our top 9 are over 50% I would think. Still has to play well of course, he does have competition.

Legal live stream of Gusev's CSKA team at 11:30am

http://www.laola1.tv/en/int/ice-hock...451-95394.html

Gusev is #97 red, although he doesn't play much. Karri Ramo is the Avangard (white) goalie.

Pavel Datsyuk knocked a puck into the net with his head soccer style, not sure if it will be allowed, cool move though.

CSKA won 1-0, Datsyuk's goal was disallowed. Gusev was a scratch, likely because of it being Datsyuk's first game. Ramo played well. Hopefully Gusev takes the opportunity to pick Datsyuk's brain while he has the chance.

Thanks for the info. Yea, he's got a few bodies to battle through but I think he'll thrive in the NHL. Hope so anyway.

Is there a way to watch the Crunch games?? I was looking around and couldnt find anything. I heard something about some games may be on TV in the bay area. That would be nice.

http://ahl.neulion.com/ahl/ is the only legal way I know. It's $149.99 for all the Crunch regular season games, or $6.99 to $5.99 each for single to 10 game packs. Some free illegal streams might pop up, no guarantee though.

We only get about 10 games a year on TV locally, and then those are usually late season games on Sunday or directly opposite SU Basketball (which is the 800 lb Gorilla in town). So yeah, other than the online there isn't much of an option. Wish I could offer a better one.

New Syracuse Crunch coach Jon Cooper ironing out the details of defending a title
Quote:
“What has to go on next is how are we going to keep on going. It can’t be a situation of now we won, we can take a year off,” Cooper said of his returners. “I think what has to be kept in perspective is there are 600 players in this league gunning for what we want. I think we proved we are good enough to win the Calder Cup. Are we good enough to hold onto it? Do you want to stay on the top of the mountain?”
Lightning forward prospect Cory Conacher set to excel in sophomore season
Quote:
“Rather than being disappointed or anything like that, I think the situation with the NHL right now made me realize that I need to work a little harder, and that at least I’d be given the opportunity to play [in the AHL] and improve my game,” Conacher said. “So for now, I’m looking at continuing to take on a large role in Syracuse and helping that team succeed to show everyone in Tampa Bay that I’m capable of taking them to the top.”

Bolts' Connolly to work on game in minors

Quote:
"For me to go and develop my game and not be sitting around will do a lot better for me than if I was just sitting,'' Connolly said. "I have a team to make and I have people to impress, and in the American League, too. I can't go in there acting like I played here in the NHL and I have everything locked up. I have to go down there and play well, play to the way I know I can play.''

Helenius said he returns from Finland a much more confident goalie. ... Helenius wasnt on Admirals last year and wont predict this year but he sees no reason why team cant have more success ... Tokarski is the only teammate he knows from previous Norfolk days. Says they are good friends but looks forward to goalie competition ... Helenius: "Im a lot more mature now as a player and as a human being." ... Helenius: "I can read the game better. I understand it better." ... Retuurning to North America: "I think this is the time for me to take another chance, see what happens." ... Helenius is only player here right now. Others expected tonight and tomorrow

One of BriseBois’ most obvious personality traits emerged Wednesday as he toured the team’s new office, lounge and training facilities in the basement of the War Memorial.

He is extremely detailed-oriented.

BriseBois walked through the complex in the precise order that players would so he could envision what they might need at any given second. He approved of and tweaked everything from lighting to mirrors to locker arrangements to how to stain the wood paneling on the sauna.

BriseBois said he got an education in proper facility upgrades when he worked for the Montreal organization and the Canadiens built a new workout center. He said the Crunch’s handiwork — mostly funded by $281,000 from Onondaga County — ranked near the top of the AHL.

“Details add up,” BriseBois said. “You want to create an environment where good things can happen. That’s my job here. This is what I had in mind. We’re trying to build something here.”
Quote:
Defenseman Radko Gudas, who played in Norfolk last season, appreciated how the new amenities foster team chemistry.

“It looks better than it was in Norfolk. There’s lots more space,” he said.
Quote:
BriseBois made an early statement about the Lightning’s commitment to Syracuse with his fashion choice on Wednesday.

He arrived wearing a blue polo shirt with a Crunch logo and promised that all casual gear worn by Syracuse players and coaches would be of similar style. That’s typical of most AHL affiliates, with players sporting the gear of their minor-league team when casual dress around the rink or when traveling is appropriate.

But Anaheim, Syracuse’s previous parent team, veered from that. The Ducks told their players and coaches in Syracuse to wear Anaheim sporting apparel so that they would see themselves as part of the NHL organization instead.

“Everyone here is proud in what we do here,” BriseBois said. “What we do here is important. We just never forget that.”

Goalie Dustin Tokarski said he is looking forward to his position battle with newcomer Riku Helenius.

"As a team, we're here to repeat,'' Tokarski said. "I want to be the guy, I want to help the team win, as does Riku. It's all about what have you done lately. It's all about performing well here. I'm sure who plays better will play more. It's a pretty easy formula for a coach.''

- Syracuse practices Sunday and Monday, 11 a.m. at the War Memorial. Tuesday, the team leaves for its preseason trip to Newfoundland.

Here is the list of NHLers playing in the AHL this season,

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/feature/?id=75725

Not a totally accurate list, they have Barberio and Conacher listed as NHLers, but they haven't even played one NHL game yet.
