Tanner Richard has been very physical so far vs Oshawa, shown some good speed and awareness too. Hasn't shown a lot of offensive flare other than just standing in front of the other teams goalie but its only the second.

Fun game. Surprised nobody has gotten a hold of Rinaldo yet.

I love this team. They are such a complete hockey team from top to bottom.
They're still taking too many penalties but that comes with being a tough team to play against. I kind of want to say they take alot of risk offensively (which pays off more times than not) with Dmen jumping into plays and carrying the puck deep sometimes but they will get forwards back and playing solid two way games and I attribute that to Coop.
The reason to me he is a great coach is because it seems he has forwards contributing offensively but playing solid D on the other side of the puck. D playing well but making passes and contributing offensively. Basically rounding everybody's game out. Like I said complete team.

Somebody is sick and their contagiousness is getting someone else sick, and the cycle continues with that new sick person spreading it along.

Some OT news: Cory Conacher's little brother Shane played in Canada's (East) first game of the World Jr. A Challenge tournament. Former bolt Sheldon Keefe is an assistant coach. I wonder if Cory's jump from unknown to AHL MVP and high tier prospect has cast some spotlight and attention on his brother this season.

And in some other news

Some draft reading material,

There is a lot of talent coming from the Q this year. Drouin has a better ppg than consensus #1 MacKinnon and Carrier is carrying a weak team. Also, Erne, Mantha, Gauthier, and so many others. Very deep draft.

Tonight's the first game of the Super Series starting off with the QMJHL team. Paquette, Nesterov, and Vasilevski playing tonight.

Mantha-Paquette-Carrier line tongiht for the super series. Pretty heavy line. Two potential first rounders with a big hard worker at center.
The NHL network and Sportsnet will show the game at 7

Somehow this doesn't happen during training camp, but several games into the season.
I was watching QI, all the way back in series A, episode 10, and Stephen Fry had a fact about airplanes and air replacement.

When smoking became banned on commercial flights, they stopped entirely replacing the air, instead using a mixture of fresh and recycled air to save money.

Using recycled air means that viruses can more easily survive. The carbon dioxide also decreases comfort.

AHL teams aren't required to use charter flights exclusively, as they are in the NHL (to preempt any questions about it). Not that this specific point would particularly matter as they get more than enough contact with each other to begin with, but NHL teams should be able to stay healthier overall by using entirely fresh air instead of recycled especially given how much they are in the plane (for additional cost)

and the benefits of a healthy, well rested hockey team should be obvious.

Russia wins game 1, 6-2.
Nesterov looked very good defensively. Vasilevski was solid positionally and made several quick saves. Paquette didn't play much, had a few hits though.

Of the draft eligible guys, Mantha looked very much like a good 1st round player. If Zykov is still available in the 2nd round, I would be very tempted, need to see him play some more though. Drouin and Gauthier were out injured, Carrier didn't play much.

"Andrei Vasilevski put on a show Monday night in Blainville-Boisbriand, stopping 31 shots to lead Russia to a win in the opening game of the 2012 Canada-Russia Subway Super Series. The Q has now lost five straight games to the Russians. Vasilevski, who was wearing a Lightning mask, was named Player of the Game for Russia. He made routine saves, difficult saves, and spectacular saves. The save of the game was Vasilevski doing the splits to stop a QMJHL shot from his left. He was beaten on the power play on a shot that went top corner, then late in the game Jean-Sebastien Dea lost control of the puck on a partial breakaway and the disc snuck through Vasilevski's legs. Vasilevski was playing the deke."

I was very impressed by both Vasilevski (especially his mask ) and Nesterov tonight. AV made some amazing saves and really shut down a lot of Q's chances. Nesterov made some good plays too and finished a +2 on the night. I was disappointed to see so little of Paquette though. Hoping AV and Nesterov can keep it going on Wednesday. If so then Russia will be a very hard team to beat!

Both the website and myself failed in this, so it becomes a double negative, meaning that the picture I posted would be correct.

Panik get's the empty net goal. 3-0 with little time left. Could be a shutout for Helenius

Cooper gets regular season win #100 too.
