Flames Fan looking for some Input

So a bit of info. A media type here in Calgary is doing a Fan Opinion show and he's been asking some of the Flames faithful to come infront of Cameras and give our thoughts on where the Flames are, where they are headed and what we think should be done.

One of the questions involves player movement, and I can only see one viable trade for the Flames. I just honestly don't know if it's fair to both teams so here I am asking for honest feedback and perhaps you guys and ladies can make this proposal a bit more solid.

So here it is:

To Jersey: Miikka Kipprusoff, and a 2nd round pick 2012

To Calgary: Cam Janssen, Danius Zubrus and a late 1st round.

Please don't flame (haha little pun) me on this I honestly don't know if this is fair value or not. Give me your thoughts. I am also assuming that Broduer is done this year.

after brodeur, the devils need to get younger in net. why would they make a deal for kiprusoff who's almost 36? makes no sense.

I'm a BIG fan of Kipper, but at his age I don't know if it's worth it especially not if Marty isn't retired, and at Kipper's cap hit.

If Kipper was 2 years younger even, and Marty was definitely gone I wouldn't mind working something out.

Like I said I'm a BIG fan of Kipper. In fact when I saw the proposal I was hoping to see Kipper involved in it.

The NHL penalized us for the Kovy contract, and we are being forced to forfeit a first round draft pick in the next 4 years or something I think it was, and whatever year of our choice. It will probably be this year since we will be drawing in the bottom 4. Hopefully it will be forfeited this year.

Devils really can't afford to give up a 1st with us most likely losing ours this year and I think they are going to give the prospects a chance in net. That said, not a horrible trade and please take Cam even though he's a FA come July. And thanks for taking PL3

Ditto. Zubrus' work along the boards is invaluable to the team right now.

Not a chance in hell. Our first this year is being forfeited so it isn't available. Zubrus is too important a piece, and an aging Kiprusoff isn't worth that.

Cam is a UFA so take Boulton PLZ! Got one more year on his contract!

I really do like Miikka Kiprusoff. One of the most underrated goaltenders in the league. Wish he were younger.

I've talked about the goaltending issue a lot recently, and unless we get a prospect or trade for someone else's prospect I don't see us getting a franchise goaltender for years.

We could make a run at Carey Price, or Cam Ward as others have suggested down the road. I think when Marty is gone we might see someone like Theodore, or Kiprusoff or Nittymaki for a year or two before we find a long term solution. Not neccessarily those names, but in that class of guys.

No. The key to getting this far has been the forechecking and wearing them down when we get the cycle going. That is zubrus' game to a tee.

Until next Summer. So only one more season. We have a lot of UFA's in 2013. Zubrus, Zajac, Elias, Clarkson, Zidlicky. Henrique, and Tedenby, and Josefson RFA's I believe.

Just realised that the reason we are getting this proposal today is because fans of 26 other teams are in offseason mode. This makes me feel very good.

Man, would love to see Cam Ward in a Devils jersey.

Tampa Bay is what I'm thinking. They could use goaltending if not for a short term solution, but that isn't their biggest problem I don't think. Have you ever seen how long it takes them to get out of their own end? It's easy to think it's exclusively goaltending when the options are only a 42 year old, and a career backup playing a starter, but they need some upgrades big time, and goaltending is just the first.

No thanks at really any price. Would rather have a 1.5-2 million dollars goalie and spend the other 3 or 4 million on skaters.

Groovy! Thank you for your input everyone. Maybe I'll ask if Tampa is willing to part with Conolly and Hedman for Miikka.

I really do appriciate your help on this.

Cheers, and luck to you in the Eastern finals. (I'm on the Kings Bandwagon this year)

I'm going to guess their answer will also be no. Hedman should be untouchable.

You might get a 1st and a solid prospect but I'm willing to guess a team will be desperate and overpay.

Thanks! And I don't know about Tampa, but it's worth a shot! With the Lightning being my home team I know a lot of fans are in a what to do mode. Not over on their board cause I don't read it, but the people I know in person.
