Will NY Break the Boston/Carolina Record?

The most number of games to win the stanley cup is 25, shared by last year's cup champions, and the '06 Hurricanes. Since there is a thread on LA beating the Oilers record, will the Rangers beat the record for most games to win cup?

They already are at 14 games out of a possible 14 games.

My heart couldn't take it if they did.

Yes. 28 games. Think of all the playoff experience. Milking every last drop.

No. Because LA is winning the Cup.

Was wondering if anyone had gone 7,7,7,7 to win it. Probably rare.

Since the record is 25, I would say extremely rare.

Boston was the only team to win 3 game 7s and win the Cup. I'm not sure if a team has won 3 game 7s and not won the Cup though.

In the history of the NHL, a team that has played the maximum amount of games in the first 2 rounds of the playoffs is 0-38 in Round 3

Couldn't have because no team has won round 3 after going to game 7 in both the first two rounds.

Guess that answers that question.

That'd really suck to play 28 games and not win the cup.

The better question is what is the maximum anyone has played and NOT won the cup, aside from 25 of course.

Flames played 26 in 2003-04, that'd be tough to beat.

If they Rangers win it, they'll probably need to beat the record. A pair of six game series would push them over the record. I don't see them finishing off any of the remaining teams in 5.

Dunno if they get past the Devils, but I can see them sweeping the Kings/Yotes.

True enough, I'm just speaking from a matchups stand point. NY did not match up well against Sens and Caps and I'm surprised they ended up pulling it off. Not really the case with LA/PHX

Uh, more like the Kings could sweep the Rangers.

Have you watched them play a single playoff game yet?

If any team can do it, it's the Rangers. These guys went through Camp Torturella.

Yes, they would destroy the Kings if they played them now.

They look pretty good I guess if you erase the fact that Nucks/Blues completely **** the bed.

Why? Both teams have to win a conference finals series first, this conversation is as irrelevant as comparing our chances in the next year's finals.
