No way.

I dont see us sweeping the Coyotes, much less the SCF.

But no one cares about that... win the cup, irrelevant to me how many games to do it.

No. Los Angeles is not going to win the Stanley Cup.

I went to look it up because I was fairly certain that they did it when the playoff structure was different, and sure enough they did it in 1985 when the first round was a best-of-five.

But then in reviewing 1988, they also did it in the current playoff format: 16-2! What a run...4-1, 4-0, 4-1, 4-0.

I don't care about this record. All I care about is winning the Cup. The Kings are doing it right, by focusing on one game at a time.

The strategy appears to be succeeding.

Not a chance and I don't care if it takes the Kings 13 more games to win the Cup.

It's definitely possible and they have all the momentum in the world right now. I certainly hope they do, that'd be a great story.

Who was closest last?

Didn't the Pens roll through the east the one year?

They went:

4-0
4-1
4-1

But then lost 4-2.

So they played a total of 20 games. Not too bad.

Both Jersey and the Rangers are better than Phoenix. Phoenix just has the best goalie in the league right now. I think looking at shots is a very deceiving way of looking at things but not when you're getting outshot by more than 10 shots on average and you're last in shots for and against out of all 16 playoff teams.

Rangers are similar to the Predators. Devils are similar to the Canucks.

Neither of the 2 East teams above are better than the Preds or Canucks.

The Rangers went 7 games against Ottawa and the Caps. They'll struggle to score against LA (or Phoenix).

I don't think the Kings can beat the Devils or the Rangers. I love how everyone is on the Kings bandwagon. It's good to lose a few games in the playoffs. They will get crushed in the Finals if they make it.

Hell no.

Prior to:

1) Firing TM hiring Sutter
2) Trading for Carter
3) Calling up Nolan/King

I was ready to start the Kings annual "race to the bottom" thread.

Nothing the Kings fans haven't heard before from their potential opponents.

Are the Kings getting too much love right now? Of course they are, but going 9-1 in the playoffs will do that.

The Kings are +15 in the playoffs, they were only +18 in the regular season.

Because a forum post made for discussion has an effect on how well a hockey team will play.

I get that people are superstitious, but this is harmless. It's unlikely the Kings will sweep Phoenix and the Devils or Rangers, but I wouldn't of thought they could beat Van and StL in 9 games, so anything is possible.

They struggled to score against the Senators and Capitals. LA and Phoenix would struggle to score against them too.

The Kings would have a good chance vs. the Devils, unfortunately for them at this point I just do not see the Devils beating the Rangers. My feeling is both these series end quickly with Rangers/Kings in 5, I think the final will go 7 games with the Kings losing to the Rangers.

The Kings have lost only 6 of their last 24 games, 2 of those losses to SJ to end the reg season where they didnt play with any intensity having already secured a playoff spot.

They are playing the best hockey of any team all year, but you would still expect them to lose games

quite a strategy

if only vancouver, st louis, detroit, san jose, chicago, nashville, washington, philadelphia, boston, pittsburgh, ottawa, florida would have thought of that

Really? You're playing the intensity card? The only reason the Rangers didn't have 120 points is because they didn't play with the intensity, see 2 can play that game. Also wasn't the 3rd seed still up for grabs?

The Rangers are a lot better defensively than the Predators. Look at their GAA with having one of the best goalies in the league in net. They're not as good offensively though I'm not sure Nashville is great offensively either.
