Pet peeves of playoffs & internet

-Complaints of team on regular boards of being screwed by the refs despite penalities being pretty close for both teams. Doesn't apply if one team gets 2:1 margin in PPs over several games.

-People whose team wins coming over to the losing board 5 nanoseconds later and posting "Congrats on a great series" Not only do I feel this is rubbing it in, neither of us played. Enjoy your team winning and kindly keep it to your part of the boards.

-Bi polarity- well, I guess this is just fans being fans. But one moment being on to[ of the world and the next beiong ready to walk off a cliff kind of comes off as extreme sometimes. "I love our star! Wait, he screwed up!Fire/trade everyone!"

Penalties being close doesn't mean it was fair

Not always, but I find people are less than objective about what's being called/not called. Penalty against my team=refs are screwing us, they missed something they could have totally called on the other team too. PP for my team= finally the refs get it right.

People usually whine and cry unless their team gets nearly 10 pps. Even then they usually complain.

For me it's when people generalize fan bases. Saying something like "typical leafs fan" or "classic Canuck fan" is what annoys me the most. Other than that no issues here

Its true, when their team wins they feel like they have to start being classy. Yet when their team loses its cause the refs, cheating, league fixing it etc...

Resorting to attendance jabs instead of defending the on-ice product.

I swear that attitudes were different when the Pittsburgh Penguins were involved.

I have 2 pet peeves:

1) The phrase 'NHL Playoffs'
It's the Stanley Cup Playoffs, people. Cup and basically the playoffs for it predate the league.

2) The phrase 'Stanley Cup Finals'
What makes it plural? It's 1 Final. The Conference Finals are just that, 2 finals so finals is an appropriate usage, but there's only 1 Cup Final.

The ridiculous double-standards.

When it happens to "my" team, it's a crime against humanity. When it happens to the opponent, "Oh, it happens. Don't whine about it."

The NSH/PHX series was swimming in this coming from both sides.

This annoys me as well and I also think it goes hand in hand with what the OP mentioned about thinking in extremes.

It bothered me a bit but I always took it to mean the games of the final series.
