You can never fault a team for taking a kid later in the draft with this much offensive skill.
Those hands do look good. Hard to tell from just highlights, but he seems to be very calm with the puck. Puts himself in good positions and doesn't panic, very smooth.

Looks like he has a pretty good shot, but what I liked best is that he wastes no time in getting rid of it. I always tell my son (Squirt), every shot doesn't have to be perfect if you get it away quick and the goalie doesn't have time to get set. Griffith seems to have that skill down pat.

If he can work on his skating, B's could have themselves a late-round steal.

Look, I have been one of Soderberg's biggest supporters in the face of a lot of crap, but even I have to admit I doubt we see him in Boston ever. I think he could be a good player in the NHL, but he has not been motivated to do so up to this point.

Even though the B's own his rights, not sure he should even be considered a prospect at this point?

He has broken me

Edit: Here is the link:

http://tv.hockeyligan.se/#/video.1859062587001

Soderberg (#17) scores at 1:30 on a really nice move and again at 1:54 with a great give and go play, where he draws the penalty, but still buries it as he is hauled down.

It's too bad this guy has no interest in playing here. If he puts up huge numbers this year in the SEL, maybe Chia will guarantee him a spot and we will find out if he was ever serious about coming over LOL.
I know you've defended him a lot in the past, and I'm really grateful for that. He's such a nice guy and an amazing player, and definitely doesn't deserve all the crap he's gotten here.

Here's a clip of his goals from yesterday's game, in a seperate highlight reel they make for those who score hattricks :

(I felt pretty bad for Växjö's goalie Fredrik Norrena (you may have heard of him ) after last night's game. He played six years in Linköping, before getting fired after last season. This was his first game back in his old home arena, and he, along with the rest of the team, was pretty much humiliated :p)

Holy Jesus is McDavid good. I never got to really see Crosby in juniors but man... McDavid might be the real deal.

I haven't seen any of the games but have watched all the highlights and it appears camara is improving his net front presence. All of his goals have been him cleaning up the garbage. Not much to be impressed with so far as he's an already strong 19 year old kid bullying younger kids in front and burying tap ins and rebounds. Can't overlook that he is playing with a top ten pick in scheifele as well. Still in my mind has the ceiling of a 4th liner.

If he's a fourth-liner that can hit, fight and score 12-15 goals, he will still be a diamond in the rough.

Not sure anyone expects anything more out of him. If he can at least be a multi-dimensional 4th line plug, that's not bad.

And one of his teammates, according to a story in THN (on phone and can't link) was hospitalized with alcohol poisoning.

That happened to a guy I knew in college - he was throwing up blood and everything! LOLOLOLOL It was so funny!!

Did you hear a week or so ago that the captains at North Dakota were suspended? There was talk of a team party that got out of hand, and that they were being made an example of. Now that details are coming out - the police were involved, a kid was hospitalized, and it appears the kids that were drunk to the point of passing out (Gothberg was one) were freshmen, which leads to questions about possible hazing.

Check the Hockey News for a column on the situation - McKenzie tweeted a link, but I'm on my phone.

Yeesh, sorry.

I heard about the captains being suspended last week. I had not heard any details, including the fact that Gothberg was involved, until an hour or so ago. I thought perhaps you were in the same boat. I stand corrected and I heartily apologize.

You are welcome for the information. I'm sure you meant to say thanks.

This is why assumptions aren't always a good thing.

Some more info, courtesy of Puck Daddy and The Jamestown Sun:

Quote:
The call to University of North Dakota police earlier this month that resulted in four UND freshman hockey players cited for underage drinking and seven other players suspended, came in as a request for medical assistance.

The responding officer, Cheryl Sevigny, reported that paramedics suggested two of the freshmen be watched overnight and took another to the emergency room on suspicion of alcohol poisoning.

On Friday, Grand Forks County prosecutors charged the four freshmen players with underage drinking, a Class B misdemeanor. They are Jordan Schmaltz, 18; Bryn Chyzyk, 19; Zane Gothberg, 20; and Drake Caggiula, 18.
Quote:
In her report, Sevigny said she received a call from the 911 dispatch center around 8 p.m. Sept. 15 about “a highly intoxicated male subject passed out in room 102B Walsh Hall and the RAs were unable to wake him.”

Nicholas Garfield, the resident assistant in Walsh, made the 911 call. He said he’s confident he kept one or more of the freshmen from a possibly critical problem, he said.
