The KING was MVP / 1st star. Absolutely lights-out, brilliant goaltending once again. Rangers got completely out-played in the 2nd, but he kept the team in there by being a brick wall.
Kreider provided the spark this team needed in the 3rd. Girardi salvaged his abysmal play with a great 1-timer from the point. Anisimov was amazing tonight.
I was really worried about the Rangers heading into the 3rd, but they came up big when it mattered. Torts' message to them during the 2nd intermission was clear: SHOOT THE PUCK IF YOU'RE OPEN! Rangers listened, Rangers executed, Rangers win.
Devils must be in tears.. having rested that long and come up short without a goal and get scored on 3 is a really menacing for them.. pain will be slow and deepening for them
So, I'm positive the Devils will have a ton of push back in the coming games but... There's an entire team of hockey players out west calling themselves kings; it won't be much longer until they learn there is only one king. LGR.
Got the win, lets go and win the second game wednesday and we should be on our way to the SCF, lets get wins so we can feel good. I really like our chances in this series, havnt been this confident all playoffs long.

And yeah, they outplayed us for 40 minutes. In the third they were to tired from skating on the MSG ice

Hank and Kreider were great and McD played his best game in some time. Girardi was generally lousy but deserves props for the goal.
Rangers didn't even play a full 60 minutes and still won. Pretty impressive. That 3rd period was something else. Lots of room for improvement for some players, though. Cally is still off, Richards was forcing bad passes all night, Hagelin is having trouble scoring, and Rupp and Prust are taking bad penalties. I never thought I would say this, but Prust could be a candidate for a benching when Dubi or MZA comes back. This is the worst I've seen him play, from the bad passes and limited offensive instincts to undisciplined penalties.
McDonagh was tremendous in the first period, thwarting those break away attempts and Hank came up huge for us in the 2nd when the team looked like they were skating in mud but the 3rd period belonged to Chris mother ****ing Kreider! He has such great poise with the puck, I can't wait to see what this kid looks like with some NHL level training and Tort's camp.
McD had an epic game tonight. Someone said it perfectly when they posted that he basically had to play the entire Defensive zone by himself because of G's ineptitude.
